Lobos mentioned the above, still 7s NRNB with Bet365, think that could be a decent price if turns up. Think the team already has mentioned 3 miles at Aintree on agenda, so they must be having a look at the stayers now?

Would be unlikely to go over 3 miles first go at Cheltenham.

Maybe mares hurdle then Aintree over 3?

      • There's a respectable trend for horses trying 3m for the first time in the Stayers in my head...

Not to say she will run like.

        • I'll look to back Paisley Park on the day myself personally, and post up at decent odds for the in running market on the exchange as he's a horse that tends to be looking like theres nothing left at the top of the hill and after some gentle persuasion he switches into gear for the last 3 or 4 furlongs. Watch back last years renewal for instance, any normal horse, you would have written him off at the top of the hill before Coleman got him going.

That is the current plan according to Nicky. Mares Hurdle then over 3 at Aintree. They clearly see 3m as no problem so maybe, just maybe, if the Stayers weakens further then perhaps they'll give it a go. She's won the Mares Hurdle already and the Stayers on her CV would add a bit to her breeding value. She'd go off fav imo if she went that way taking into account her Mares allowance.

I would have thought so - as FinalFurlong91 says below too they could just stick with the Mares & up to an easier 3m at Aintree. Given the way this race is cutting up currently though, if they think she’ll get 3m then why not go for it given the differential in prize money.

If FP & KD don’t end up making it I think the opposition in the Mares would actually be tougher than what’s probably left here…

Interesting that she is is low as 9s with 365 (7s NRNB) and 10s with Ladbrokes but 20s with Unibet. Call me an old cynic, but the Unibet price would put me off a bet without NRNB, and I'm not sure the NRNB prices are value yet.

With her 7lb allowance she'd be 3lb ahead of Home by the Lees so in theory she'd have the beating of him and therefore would be fav should she take her chance.

Perhaps, though taking a chance on her staying the trip and a lot still depends on whether FP makes it. Hoping FP does make it and she stays in the Mares. Starting the Festival on the back foot if neither of those happens

                      3lb behind teahupoo though

Love to see it happen, for the race and my pocket!!
For it to happen though, she will have to have proved she stays in a race pretty soon. An entry in the Cleeve only hope I would think.
Just do not see Nicky going to the stayers without that knowledge.
I think we will see it next season, but unfortunately not this.

                        • Maries Rock for the stayers was one of my earlier bets, but that was on the assumption she'd run in one of the 3 milers
As soon as they said they're targetting the Relkeel, it was pretty much game over
She's loving that middle distance trip, take on the mares and regain her title. Then go to Aintree, run in the 3 miler, with a fresher horse, get the allowance in what will be a weaker field. Then back to Punch?

That makes more sense to me than stepping up into the stayers

From october 30th 2021 to april 30th 2022 she had 7 hurdle runs.
so far since october she has had 1 run.
is it possible she's given an entry for the cleeve hurdle?
I think she'll go mares, i'm not invested in her, but is an entry for the cleeve totally out of the question?

I'd love to see her in the Cleeve Hurdle, and then stayers... but this is me being selfish because I back her Ante Post for the stayers
If I had 5pts to bet right now, in the antepost market, it would be Maries to win the Mares

I just cant see Nicky Henderson doing this, especially when you have Maries as fav for the race she won last season. Henderson is more predictable than most, and he normally sticks to the most obvious route.

Will he run her in the Cleeve and then mares... hmmmmm not sure. Going from her last run, I dont think she needs to run again before the Fez. She was fairly weak in the market that day, suggesting she may come on for the run, but she smashed the field. So she's probably more ahead in terms of her prep than what the yard through

Just wished I had backed her in the mares earlier in the season. Foolishly over complicated it

We all do this sometimes, on this occasion at the beginning of the season with constitution hill going for the champion hurdle, Epatante winning last season over 2 1/2 miles at aintree i'd consider maries rock for the stayers ante post a well thought out play that doesn't look like coming off this time, but certainly not foolish.
