Had no idea Summerville Boy was in training with Henry! Although I see he's already ran for him last month. That Supreme seems a lifetime ago
Weather for kilkenny next week should mean the ground isn't too soft

Little rain on Sunday but clear after and mild temperatures

Should be nice no excuses ground hopefully

they are currently soft, heavy in places which will hopefully turn to yielding, soft in places come thursday

Fair play. It's so f*cking cold I hadn't considered the weather actually improving!

He was a NR due to ground last time he was entered on yielding ground! Even though he's won on it the past. Hopefully it does improve to that sort of level.

      • Just used Open GPT

Q: does teahupoo need soft ground

A: Teahupoo does not necessarily need soft ground to perform well. Teahupoo has won races on both soft and good ground.

        • FP out to 20/1 with BF & PP. Not a good sign.

Whenever a trainer says a horse is 50/50 the cynic in me assumes it's more 80/20

              Despicable bookmaking.
Clearly know something and looking to entice the naive in with a significantly boosted price.
This is what makes me detest some bookmakers.
And this sort of behaviour never gets pulled up by our beyond useless regulator…

Might be seen as OTT but bookies are scumbags

                • It's a really poor take on the situation imo. Multiple bookies (in fact literally all the other big hitters aside from Hills) still have him at single figure prices in antepost markets which is far worse! At least PP are attempting to offer some 'value' for the 'gamble' you're taking.

There's not masses being traded but you can lay him on betfair for similar prices if you're so certain he's a non runner. Good couple of hundred traded at odds of 15s to 22s in the last day or so.

And at least cash out is available with PP/Betfair, although I imagine the large price increase is to stop people cashing out bets that were already placed on him, which, of course, they are entitled to do. Bet365 probably greyed him out, haven't they? I haven't even looked tbh.

Aye, greyed him out for cash out but you can still back him at 8s in their antepost market. This is far worse practice surely.

                      • Completely agree Benjy23 That was what I wanted 365 to do last year. Kilcruit gets beat on debut and rather than push him out significantly, they push him out a couple of points and grey him out. If you don't like a horses prospects and want to stop cash out, push him out in value. That's having your cake and eating it.

365 offering full stake cashout if you've backed on the NRNB market (obviously dependent on what odds someone backed him at compared to his current price), i'm sure it is a different story if just normal antepost

I guess pre internet bookies would buy their way into yards and the information they can get, you'd get horses not in training or worse and these lowlifes were taking bets on them, no-one knew any different, this is just more visible.

The only defence is that I know some bookmakers link their prices to the exchange so whenever there's a move on their prices adjust automatically, they do this to make sure they don't get filled in by a gamble, but the fact the 20/1 has been up there for a while now would suggest this is deliberate, they will have taken bets at 20/1...

Klassical Dream is making progress from his small setback and while it’s going to be tough to make it to Cheltenham, where there’s life, there’s hope. We’ll give him every chance to make it, but I wouldn’t be putting any ante-post bets on him at the minute

I'd also be exclusively relying on teahupoo which isn't something I'd like, but at the same time I don't want to back any of the others
