Lets be serious, Edwardstone has beaten absolutely naff all if you're playing that
It's Energumene under the microscope darlo.

But, if you insist, Blue Lord maybe? Some on here like him a bit. He's ok.

      • Edwardstone versus Energumene is a great match up
Be interesting to see how many people take the Energumene to win by 8 lengths when they meet up
        Its going to be close

Yes he's beaten them soundly but, from what they've produced since, I'm not surprised. He's just been brilliantly placed by Mullins against what now appears to be very, very poor opposition.
Is it another bit of brilliant placing to enter him for Saturday ?

Its clear to all to see that Blue Lord has improved greatly this season?

Regarding Energumene - what about his 16L beating of the 163 rated Janadil at Punchestown in a hack canter?

Allaho only managed to beat Janadil 14L....

But what has Janadil done since being beat by Energumene?
What has Blue Lord done since being beaten by Edwardstone?

                Yes. That's my point.

                • I don’t think anybody is going to give you an answer that goes beyond manner of victory so you probably need to resign yourself to that lobos. He has had to battle once and lost, is that significant maybe maybe not. Whether Edwardstone is good enough to make him battle hopefully we will find out really soon. Others that are quoting percentages are much smarter than me. I just want to see them both run to their best and celebrate whoever comes out on top.

Selfishly I’d like it to be a narrow victory and couldn’t care which way as I’d like to keep maximum intrigue going until Cheltenham.

                  • Yep, time to zip it now. I've had my say. Let the horses do the talking.

                    • Think it’s hard to say a horse that’s run in all the top races for a 2 miler including going over to England twice (hopefully) for a showdown with GBs top 2 miler outside of Cheltenham has been well placed.

CPS had run to a very high level at the DRF & had soundly beat Allaho in the Punchestown champion chase the year before, Energumene beat him easy as you like at last years festival. I think it’s hard to find anything coming out to strongly Frank the form because there simply aren’t a lot of really great 2 milers around in Ireland in particular, and a significant amount of the good ones are with Mullins too so they typically won’t face off outside of the spring festivals.

I’ll hold my hands up though, I wrong Edwardstone off as a chaser because of his average runs over hurdles and he made me look foolish last year, I don’t be writing him off again. The winner may well have to run to 180+ on Saturday.

                      • Energumene will beat him. Is there much else to say?

                        • Real talk though, who is there for him to beat? The open 2m chase division is so weak Envoi Allen came third in the champion Chase. You can say the form isn't good, but who has he dodged? In the top ten chasers on ratings there are only 3 other 2 milers - he's beaten one and the other two were novices last year. I think the statement on his form is more of an indictment of a dwindling NH horse population that is disproportionately geared towards staying chasers

I've still not forgiven him for losing his bumper after I waxed lyrical about him at work and a lot of people lost their dough!

                            So yeah, he's a dosser

Yeah, I had him at 66's for the Champion Bumper after his trainer said he was the best 4yo he'd ever had. Turned out ok in the end though.
