There's only one Gold Cup like. The only way GDC turns up in the Ryanair is if he somehow proves he wouldn't stay, which seems unlikely.

Things have changed since then though with Allaho. I would say Willies thinking will not be so concrete now regarding GDC.

I couldn’t have CPS at all anymore, especially travelling over to the UK. If he came I couldn’t see him winning, but would more suspect he would stay in Ireland.

In terms of Blue Lord, I don’t think he’s good enough even without Allaho in the race. Fakir would beat him. He will go but I don’t see Willie seeing him with a great change compared to GDC. It all depends on what Willie has to replace GDC in the GC, and if Stattler can show that

I'd say when he namechecks a race for a horse he has rarely changed that race, Galopin des champs was namechecked for the gold cup, unless he comes out and says otherwise I'm pretty certain this willl be the case.

That’s how I’d see it, all good planning out Cheltenham 23’ and just assuming Ryanair this year, Gold Cup next year in 24’.

Anything could happen between now and Cheltenham this year never mind the year after. If he’s fit and we’ll he’ll surely be going to the Gold Cup.

Has he earmarked for Blue Lord? I thought he was keeping options open in that regard? My thinking is he might even be stepped back down to be Energumene's understudy now that his CC options are disappearing.

I agree entirely that GDC will end up at the GC btw, just looking for clarity re BL.

No You listed where you thought willie mullins would send his novice chasers. You said appreciate it and james du berlais for the banc i believe. I questioned why, when willie had namechecked the arkle. i'm now questioning why you're trying to convince people galopin is more likely to come here now, even though willie has said "you'd like to think he'd be a gold cup horse" Just to clear something up, i have no problem with your opinion i'd just like to know your reasons when the trainer has said something completely different.

i was watching a podcast earlier this week ( irishracing .com), and Johnny Ward said , No way Blue Lord goes anywhere but the Ch. Chs.

Probably paid a price for being on the pace in the Champion Chase last year when it looked like it was better to be held up (like the 1st and 2nd)
His Cheltenham record is excellent of course, barring the fall.
And he's probably not a 170 rated 2 miler.

The KIng George will be a real test for him to back up his last run but any sort of performance and I'd say that's a decent trial for the Ryanair or the Ryanair for the King George (history says both races suit similar types) Strongly run but not too far to bring real stamina into play.

The tricky element is if he won the King George, but maybe that's worth a small stakes win today bet as a saver for the GC.

Aye, Envoi, Hitman and Conflated were the three obvious ones on my first look through the market.

Hitman being with Nichols is a concern, doesn't seem keen to target Cheltenham anymore and the horse has never even run there? And Elliot wants Conflated to go GC rather than Ryanair doesn't he? So Envoi probably the most likely of the three to at least run in the race. Might have a little each way play.
