And back Hercule de Seuil for 2024 Arkle apparently Willie says that'll be the long term target after winning today!

We might get a run in before Cheltenham … about a horse who famously needs the run.

Personally think it's nothing, this niggle impeccably timed for a few days after Envoi books his place at the KG. But - thinking out loud here, covering GDC for thsi race makes sense right? Especially if both Stattler and Capodanno look Gold Cup class?

I've only got gdc backed for the gold cup and after the Allaho news I'm a bit worried and was thinking exactly the same about covering for this race.

I'm in the same boat, only backed him for the GC. Willie has been talking him up as a Gold Cup horse a lot, would his owners really want to bypass that for the Ryanair? I know I wouldn't.

No they wouldn't but if it's clear he's not going to stay the GC distance then it's the obvious race for him to drop into.

"Vautour goes to the Gold Cup, or he doesn't go!"

It doesn't sound serious with Allaho. I always got the impression WPM wasn't hell bent on going king George and I think EA emerging as a contender plus a niggle are the perfect reasons to avoid the race. On the plus side, if he does go straight to the Ryanair he'll be a more backable price on the day.

Backing Galopin Des Champs for this race is, in my view, money down the drain. He's already shown that he stays 3 miles at G1 level and, while that's not a guarantee that he'll stay the Gold Cup trip, he's not going to be going further than 3 miles before Cheltenham.

All this news means is that it's 100/1 Allaho showing up for the Gold Cup. If he doesn't make the Ryanair, Ferny Hollow and Envoi Allen are possibles because of the common ownership but Willie absolutely wouldn't re-route a horse that he considers Gold Cup quality.

….despite Mullins saying he’s a CC horse, Blue Lord’s win this afternoon has had more impact on Ryanair market, into a best price 20-1. Presume that’s because of the Allaho doubts.

He was very keen and fell in really

Tornado flyer is very slow and he only just beat him

He also has a rather bad habit of stopping the second he gets in front, definitely not the most genuine

Just in relation to this, would you prefer a CC horse going up in trip or a 3 miler coming down in trip for the ryanair? The ground on the day would make a difference

I think that there is only 2, grade 1 2m4f horses in training at present in Allaho and fakir D'oudaires. If both were not in the ryanair, I would rather go with a 3 miler coming down in trip than a CC horse going up in trip.

….especially thinking of the Cheltenham hill.

                            Mullins post-race comments are interesting;

”Blue Lord might get a Champion Chase entry but if I can find a programme for him over two and a half miles the Ryanair would look a possibility.”

Won't post all the splits but brief summary.
                              ---------------Dolcita ------Blue Lord ----Courting Vicky
                              1st ext circuit 173.85 183.42 175.51
                              2nd ext circuit 161.16 161.93 171.31
                              2 out 17.24 16.49 16.32
                              Total 335.01 345.35 346.82
The first circuit of Blue Lords race was run around 30l slower than the hcap(79 rated) and 40L slower than the Dolcita race, 2nd circuit the hcap has been shown up for having 95< rated animals as not being able to go anywhere near 140+ horses can, Blue Lord race was still 3l slower than the Mares despite a very sedate opening circuit. All Blue Lord has done today has won a tactical race from just before 2 out(hcap still finished quicker thou 40L slower circuit 2nd time around) as you'd expect for a graded 2m horse. Anyone who's taken a flyer pre race at 33s you've not lost anything in doing so but he's not proven anything today in what was basically a schooling session and the cut to 12s is a big overaction IMO.

Anyone considering backing Hitman for this? Strange that he's never run at Cheltenham - this probably puts a lot of people off.

He had a nice little form boost from GA Law at the weekend. A win on Saturday will probably just about knock him into single figures for the KG and I quietly fancy him to run well in that.

If anyone notices a KG and Ryanair double price for him can they tag me in it
