  • Really hope we see Shishkin back to his best today!

Prior to the Champion Chase he was up there with Allaho as the most exciting chasers in open company for me! I do have my doubts though and think it may have been the race at Ascot last year that’s left a lasting mark. Connections seem fairly confident he’s over the last 2 runs so we’ll see. Couldn’t back him with any confidence though and people doing so are doing it on reputation alone.

Likes Kevs idea of trying to find a winner today in one of the races today and possibly someone else for the Ryanair in March, will have a look in a bit.

    • Maybe Janadil today and Shishkin Ryanair double works better with that idea...

      • Personally feels like a day you could waste a lot of points on horses that have question marks over them. I'd rather wait and take lower prices with more evidence for today's racing myself

        • Pic D'orhy has really stepped up a gear this season. It's taken a long while for the penny to drop with him but his Kempton win last time was very good. He now looks ready to repay his huge purchase tag (half a million wasn't he?) starting at Ascot today. I think he'll win and win well in what is effectively a quality mini Ryanair chase and go fav for Cheltenham.

Agreed could spend an awful lot wasting cash on all the combinations and still be way off, got Shishkin and pic D'Orhy on nrnb and Fury Road without nrnb so if neither of the first two win Fakir likely to have beaten them and he's already 3/1 so can't cover at them odds.

Haut en colours doesn't inspire me at all, yes decent last time but always seems to find a way to not win. Janidil doesn't inspire me either. Blue Lord looks to be drifting on the exchange to a very backable price, and might drift even more after today so he's the one other in the market I'd be leaning towards.

              JP double?

              Anyone know what to do?

Any strong thoughts or betting angles? I think I'm going to skip this one tonight and come back with fresh eyes in the morning.... I like all 4 of them - or dislike them all equally
Do we think the beaten horses today would still run? I think that's the angle...

Shishkin - I'm thinking if he's beaten then Nicky won't send him, so the 4/1 NRNB is acceptable for the Ryanair, as he's such an incredibly popular horse too, you'd think he'd go off shorter, and potentially 2/1 on the day?

Janidil - if beaten, could still turn up, but he's 25/1 NRNB and I took that ages ago and if I hadn't, I'd have taken it last night, given he placed in the race previously anyway and that's a pretty solid tick for me ante post at that price.

Fakir D'oudaries - if beaten today, they'll wait for Aintree won't they? Unless it's 'really 'close, and if it's close would his price change a lot and he'd have a fair old chance still? They've skipped Cheltenham before though

Pic D'Ohry - given Nicholls and owners, pretty adament he's win today or won't run.... so potentially worth looking at the 10/1 NRNB but that does feel a little bit skinny. Think I saw someone mention to win today and place (not sure where?) would consider that as a saver..... I am a big Pic D'Ohry fan, bit of a forum legend and won that handicap when I tipped him so clearly I'm biased

Haut En Couleurs - wins today or doesn't get supplemented... that's just clear as day..... shame he's just 6/1 NRNB - suppose the option is 10/1 To Win Today and Festival instead.....

              Thoughts?

Janadil will still run won't he? Which is why the 50s double is the bet, or wait until after the race and he'll likely still be 25s or bigger if beaten.

You're right on Shishkin though. The 4s is probably fair as he's likely a much shorter price or money back.

Not sure I agree on Janidil, because he could come a very good second today and still run and you've lost some stake....?

If NRNB and he runs terrible and drifts he 'might' not run, although probably does but you could take a bigger price then and I'd assume by day of race you can hedge a bit....

Obviously if Janidil wins today then yes 50/1 is great but not sure I am confident he'll beat HEC, or certianly happy enough with 25/1

I think the best Ryanair bet you could have this morning Kev is Fury Road.
Fakir would have been well beaten behind Haut en Coleurs last time and every chance Shishkin is done, not sure I've every known Mullins supplement a horse for anything given he gives every one of his a dozen entries so I'm assuming he must have a plan for HEC.
Not sure todays race will give us any clear pointers for the Ryanair other than strengthen the case for Fury Road...

Aye, you're right he's not going to drift with a decent second. Can't see him coming in too much either mind.

Robith probably has me here But I've done Janadil win today and Ryanair at 50s. Pic win today and Ryanair at 33s. And Janadil today and Shishkin Ryanair double, with the Shishkin leg NRNB. That's definitely more than enough for today!

Fury Road already safely tucked away at 25/1

Not sure Fury Road will shorten after today though.... Fakir or Shishkin would go quite clear fav, and I think HEC would get clipped too (NRNB of course)....

Im expecting Shishkin to bomb out & Fakir to run off to Aintree, that leaves Blue Lord. Im comfortable with FR taking his scalp. French Dynamite might be a bigger danger than BL.
