      • Alan King on EDWARDSTONE:
"He was lame for most of last week. I’m pleased to say he has a shoe back on now but he had a bruised foot after the Clarence House. "We’ve had a little niggle with him but he’s got plenty of time. It’s only a small setback."

        • I reckon there will be several lame after the DRF in view of how brutal the races were run and the quickish ground. They'll be fine though hopefully.

On the Saturday, the ground had been heavily watered and rode softer than the official description, as is usually the case with watering compared to rain. It feels like the Sunday was quicker.

That's not true thou, not to go all Lydia vs Hendo on you but the first 3 races and Irish Arkle especially would be getting ludicrous Speed ratings if that was as it was officially listed or worse(yielding to soft) prior to any rain that fell. It did dry up again for the Sunday and rode at least as quick it was essentially Proper spring fez ground.

That's how I read it. Looked pretty quick out there. A few tender hooves ATM I reckon.

Only passing on what Willie said. He wasn't complaining because it made the ground suitable for his others. He's actually on record as saying that it's the best ground at Leopardsfown for several years.

Not having a pop Archie, yeah he'd be happy if most of Cheltenham was similar to the weekend you'd imagine, especially for GDC as wouldn't be ideal for plenty and he could sit in comfortably and pounce when ever he liked as he's easily the fastest horse in the race.

                    • Who do we think Will run in Champion Chase?? Must be some good EW value . Especially with how disappointing Energumene was last week and with the latest news re Edwardstone.

I was trying to think about when it became apparently the Turners would be a 4 horse race and if any races this year would be candidates for <5 horses

If you go through the entries the turners looks like a 6/7 runner race this year already.

Agree Q. Adamantly Chosen looks a decent EW bet as it's his only entry. Ran a superb race at the weekend too. Still a big price...33's.
