I can't remember the exact words they used but I didn't think Paul sounded as upbeat on Energumene as Willie had when they'd chatted to him. Willie was definitely more 'glass is half-full'.

Odd I agree. Be interesting if other Irish horses are affected the same . Could have an impact.

Some horses can be very quirky and something as innocuous as a white trim on a fence can throw them off a lot more than you’d expect, it’s a bit of a straw clutch but I wouldn’t disregard the comments as strongly as you did!

Edit: When you’re operating at the very top level small margins make big differences! Also horses are desperately reliant on routines, any variations from the norm & they can spit the dummy out big time.

Now then, what are the British for the Prestbury Cup?

            • Mullins did say they'd schooled over the same colours as the yard had bought some.
Load of bollocks if you ask me.

Agree, it’s like British rail saying it’s the wrong kind of rain.

He could easily bounce back mind you but it will be totally Independent of the excuse given if he does imo

                • Could be something as basic as the positioning of the fences on the new course not suiting him as well as the old course.

                  • Apart from the first and last he jumped just fine.
And there are basic reasons for horses getting the first and last fences not perfectly.
                    eagerness and pressure

                    • Love some of these excuses and opinions on why Energ got beat.
It is just possible that EDG and Edward are simply better, having never ran in the same race before.
                      They were certainly better Saturday.

Very unlikely given he only beat amarillo sky by a couple of lengths

whether he will run better in march have no idea, certainly don't buy the excuses they've made

Horses are entitled to an off day after all, he emptied very quickly after travelling strongly and could barely lift himself over the last.

I do think they need to ride him up with the pace from now on.

                        • Anyone expecting trouble for Blue Lord ?

Gentleman De Mee I actually thought would work his way into being a big player this year and he's been dreadful

He's one of a few this weekend I'm considering laying. Which is something I've not got involved in for a while.

I actually think GDM could go well this weekend. Likes good ground. Didn’t disgrace himself in the Tingle Creek. I think he’s an EW play even with just 2 places at 7s
