I can’t think right now of a horse that so many have underestimated more, both last season and into this season.
Well imo he can’t be knocked now after that yesterday.
      Yep.
Imagine if that was Energumene winning like that yesterday.

For a first run out of novice company over fences it was very impressive and he is a worthy rival to Energumene.
And I'm a big fan of the reigning champ.

        A worthy rival indeed.
Hes a bit like Con Hill, in that he settles so well, jumps economically and can be switched off early on. Both these horses waste absolutely no energy during the race, so when they need to they have plenty left.

I think I was in a minority of one who was strong on him early last year, but I am certainly guilty of dismissing him this season.
Arkle winners/runner ups generally do make the grade in open company, I remember a similar discussion when Put The Kettle On/Fakir Doudaries' Arkle was described by many in here as weak/poor, it just stands to reason that if you're among the best 2m Novice chasers then you're likely to among the best 2m chasers out of novice company....

          • Loved that from Eddy. Not sure shishkin would win at any trip. Just looks sour and reluctant to race. Did he have a much harder race beating energumene than initially thought? Looks like he’s not enjoying things .

It’s possible the Ascot race has left a mark, that was bloody tough performance.
Have to agree, he just doesn’t look anywhere near the horse he was. His jumping has become scrappy , and as you say he just looks like he’s not enjoying himself.
They can try stepping him up so he can go a slower pace, and it would be great if that worked, but personally I have severe doubts.

Agree. Can't have him for anything from this point on. Sad but that's racing.

                • Watched the Tingle Creek back again. Boy did Eddie quicken between the last two. Was upside Greaneteen one second and the next was 4 lengths clear and put the race to bed very easily. Can't wait to see him run again. Sounds like one more race then the Fez.

Same mo as for most of his races tbf and the QM is likely to be run to suit too. I hope they both get there (or all three if FH can return in great shape) and we will have a fascinating race to savour.

Saw that in comments on the Upping the Ante show, obviously not the most reliable source.

Anyone who bet Ferny antepost with his injury record probably needs to seek medical help themselves

Could be right as he was removed from the JD and Hillyway this weekend, would of thought he would of stayed in if sound should anything of happened to GDC or Energumene
