  • I think he’s clear example of a horse losing his Heart

    Shishkin the same.

They get pushed out of their comfort size to a point where that’s it for them
You have horses on the other side of the scale, the likes of Many Cloud and a native river, that are so gutsy and they continuously push themselves to the end and are able to come back and do it again

    Such a shame for Bob.

Yes, not being pulled up in the turner's looks to have finished him off

He was absolutely dead on his feet that day and hasn't found a thing off the bridle since

The horse likely doesn't want to go to that dark place again

Can you imagine that being voided with him PU and GDC falling, then everyone screaming you should always carry on in a match up etc.

        • Never saw Bob as a chaser tbh. May have said better staying over hurdles / 2 miles and allowing to run on the bridle

          cant rewind the clock… so

Yeah I guess like humans, horses have varying ‘mileage’ they can use in a lifetime and that age is at times ‘only a number’ - hence why we get some very tenderly handled horses as the trainers must notice that? Makes the efforts of a horse like Frodon, Paisley Park for example look pretty impressive.

            • We will all point to the match up with Galopin, but Henry running him again last season in hindsight looks monumentally ill conceived

Totally agree Rob. It seemed ridiculous to run him at the time, given how tired he was at Cheltenham.

That's what has bottomed him in my view.

I think almost everyone on here had El Barra and Busselton e/w so I think I'd have won almost as much if he'd been pulled up as if he hadn't

I landed the biggest winning distance bet from the race but that was probably in play had GDC stood up.

That's not the point I'm making, and by everyone I mean beyond this forum.

                      • Officially more chat in the champion hurdle thread about Bob Olinger than Constitution Hill.
Which says a lot about the race, and the undying loyalty some will show to some horses.

He's shit now, for whatever reason, so we can move on.

The great thing about horses is - they aren't your wife, So you can drop them like a stone and find a new one to admire (and spend money on) Happy days.

No. You're wrong. Keep them and love them for evermore. Believe me. I speak from experience.

Obviously wasn't suggesting turn them into glue or send them to France.
                            Just don't back/follow them.

No, I keep the wives in a field out the back, and feed them carrots and Polo's.
