  • ….the firms seem reasonably impressed with State Man, plenty of blue on Oddschecker, generally into 6-1 and lower.

I think we'll start to see some of the trends being broken with the state that racing is in atm, with horses coming out much later, campaigns being moved around, the lack of competition from other yards. Trends will be broken as campaigns align with current going conditions and preferences

If de Bromhead decided to run honeysuckle in the Morgiana last year instead of the Hattons grace and she won it by 5l do you think that would have stopped her winning the champion hurdle? Those sort of stats are are coincidence imo and nothing else

They've had nothing to do all weekend...... Had to shorten something just for the sake of it !

          • Not sure what was said exactly but a columnist for The Irish Field just tweeted this:

Willie quite vague on Vauban on@RTEracing. Didn't sound like Champion Hurdle a def target.

Was just about to post something... Didn't like Willie Mullins interview after the race when Asked about Vauban! Pretty much said he's not ready yet when asked when likely see him. Kept saying he's a baby, in a weak renewal he would have a chance in CH but possibly not the year to run in it with the current opposition! I dunno maybe I was overthinking it, but his body language and the way he paused to answer the question I was thinking the worst! Enough to make me be over cautious and cash out!

Did you catch the Sir Gerhard bit at all? Missed that part.

                • I would like to Willie try something different with the Triumph winner, they (more time than not) really struggle with the switch over to open division
Leave him out to grow before bringing him back, or delay and wait until the back end of the season and pick up some easier races before targetting the big Grade 1 2 mile hurdles next season. Would be interested to see how something like this would play out

He just said similar about both of them really when asked when they'll be seen, he just said neither were ready yet, then went on a little bit about how they don't always take the previous seasons form into the next etc... Was all very vague, but certainly not particularly encouraging!

                      • ….thought Mullins seemed a bit ‘grumpy’ in his post-Morgiana interview on ITV racing, perhaps he’s not in the best of moods.

Was it not just a quick back fire to Gary's 'you were never running all 6 of them in it were you'

Nice easy excuse for him isn't it, if they weren't quite ready... Who knows, guess we'll see in the next few weeks with regarding entries for them.

He knows he'll be seeing the backend of Honey for another season at least!

I was hopeful he’d make into his main dart for this but I think he’ll wait for aintree and try and win a big summer flat race as well now, pretty sure he said as much in the stable tour.
