Completely agree HDB is up there with the best in getting chasers jumping but I doubt in the space of time he’ll have turned Slade Steel into Altior to be winging them at Grade 1 level next time out imo.

Slade Steel was there to win and wasn’t anywhere near good enough. Even HDB said post race ‘maybe chasing isn’t his thing but they would give him another chance probably in a beginners’ (something along those lines if I’m remembering correctly).
I cashed my arkle bet on him after his race and backed for stayers.
