  • Looking at it, I'd say Willie tends to use it as a starting point for staying types.

    2022 - Embassy Gardens (Bartlett)
    2021 - Minella Cocooner (Bartlett)
2020 - Appreciate It (won a Supreme, but could be argued he was Ballymore bound before Ferny Hollow injury - speculation of course)
2019 - Colreevy (Mares Nov. Hurdle - no real other option - ended up a very good staying chaser)
    2018 - No runner
    2017 - Itsonlyrockandroll (Rubbish horse)
    2016 - Bacardys (Ballymore - turned into a intermediate/stayer after that)
2015 - Bellshill (ran in Supreme, but only because owner had Yorkhill in the Ballymore & Up For Review in the Bartlett - Bellshill most certainly not a Supreme horse)
    2014 - Black Hercules (Bartlett)

Definitely a mixed bag in terms of trips but the main takeaway should be that he sends decent horses to this race.

That's true. Even though Embassy Gardens was a complete flop in the Bartlett he was well backed in the lead up to the festival for the race.

The fact he even started over 2m was one of Willie's stranger decisions

Yea nice to see few the young ones come out, anotherway an interesting one for willie as well. Soir De Garde in a bumper too.

Maxxum out again 3m - where’s the preference like now for him and ziggy for NHC?

Don’t rule out Three card Brag either. He is closely related to a Northumberland national winner and idle talk who finished 4th in a Scottish National. He is reported to be schooling well and is one the trainer is very keen on for chasing.

Hard to pick up but on that irish racing interview tonight it sounds like Gordon said he could be one for the 4 miler , its about 12minutes into it.

It’s what I’ve backed him for. I think he’s tailor made.

ATM, from comments and now this entry, it's clear to me they are going full steam ahead to the opener.

Don’t the McNeills almost exclusively wan’t Heskin in the saddle on their horses? That would be a slight concern for the NHC but a plus for backers as if he did go down that route route the amateur Gordon would book would likely be a superior jockey. Heskin is useless.

Not any more I don’t think. I may be wrong but he is over in Ireland now trying to reignite his career I think but others could confirm for certain.

Yeah they sacked him off a few months back as full time rider

                              • I'm not sure of the situation with a p heskin, but what i do know is that the mcneils own three card brag with patrick and scott bryceland, who own magical zoe.
Ap heskin appears to have kept the ride on magical zoe, so i'd suggest waiting for a declaration for three card brag to see the lay of the land maybe
