Golden Joy entered for the Fishery Lane on Sunday I see. Possibly following the Teahupoo/Espoir D'allen route this season. Lacks the experience those two had at this stage of their careers though.

Yea Jit Langy there for willie as well. Both carry a winners penalty. Jit Langy is one he checked for the Ballymore and has form with Jimmy Du Seuil who I think could be very good (if he’s turned out this winter).

Golden Joy is a good horse has some solid form in France. Seams chasing is the game next year, by sounds of connections they got him very cheap and thought they had a very good novice for this year but missed the cut off by a few days.

think I’d side with Golden Joy if they both get declared, although it’s hard to know what amount Jit Langy has come on for since his debut.

Definitely not. I’m just struggling to see the logic behind it! If they’re going hurdling, why not get the most experience into them, especially should they need to drop into a handicap.

Gordon quoted on Racing TV earlier this week that he didnt want to put Absolute Notions over fences while the ground was Soft/Heavy, so he would stick to hurdling in the meantime.

That could be horse specific

He also may think he doesnt want the decent novices starting out over obstacles in tacky ground?
(if he wants them still fresh come April)

Give them one more run in Bumpers to get them fit, ...........then over Hurdles 3 or 4 weeks later.

All possible angles although still baffling even if correct. He took them all away to Tipperary recently so that should have helped get them fit too.

Some decent racing tomorrow. ADV is shorter than I'd expect giving that weight away. Be quite impressive if she can win that. Be keeping on eye on that race with a view to her and Maskada in the Mares Chase.

Between Waters running at Ludlow has opened up 7/4. Theres a chance she's just a bit crap I think and 2m 5f trip probably isn't the ideal starting point for one... But I've got her for the mares novice so I remain hopeful.

Willmount a potentially interesting recruit to Hendos as well at Newbury.

And of course the return of Allaho.

Just been looking for prices on this, not on exchange and only 50-1 Unibet, 33-1 B365.

Not big enough for me, but as an each way option - I'd back her over some of the others in the market getting 7lb - especially with the course form, and her time comparison wasn't bad compared to the second in this years champion.

Horses in the grand annual can often show marked improvement in the following season or two - recently (Edituer, amarillo sky, dancing on my own, il ridoto ) all ran in the 2022 renewal and all are at least or around 10lb better horses now. And none of those won it. It's not a bad race to look for an improver to then place in a weakish Champion Chase the year after. Especially now it's on the same course.

Speculative, but a market that is light on potential improvers, take out one of the top 2 who are second season chasers and not completely proven at open level just yet anyway (although they look obviously good enough), and there is nothing much else, so had I found her on the exchange at triple figures I'd have had a small play as I expect a good run today.
I'd rather back her than the likes of Haddex des Obeaux and others of similar ilk.
But the prices were not right anyway.

And ... Cleatus Poolaw apparently the preferred bumper horse in the Saturday bumper ... perhaps the delay has affected Gordon's plans to run his better ones here?
