  • Update on the ground from the Clerk of the course at Newbury via Racing Post:

"With the rain that is due to arrive on Wednesday and Thursday unlikely to be heavy, Ottesen doesn't expect the underfoot conditions to become any softer.

"We have good ground today [Tuesday]. We had 4mm of rain on Sunday and 10mm on Monday and we'll continue watering throughout the week to stop it from drying out too much," Ottesen said.

"We're expecting a dry day today, some rain on Wednesday morning and then there is another band of rain forecast on Thursday night, but none of it is in huge quantities. Nonetheless, it is helpful.

"I don't envisage it being any softer than good, so we'll just keep maintaining that with a bit of irrigation right the way through to Friday morning.""

    • The lack of rain & suitable ground in most of the southern UK tracks is going to give the Irish horses an even bigger edge than usual this year isn’t it.

Yep. Looking like Good ground so don't expect he'll be risked.

Let’s hope so. I’ve been looking forward to him and this entry is what everyone would have wanted.

I'm in Birmingham and every time I look out the window it's hosing down. Think I need to move to near Newbury or Ascot as they are acting like they aren't getting a drop.

What's gonna happen is the rain will come then the ground will go straight to heavy and the same trainers will say we can't run our horses the ground is too soft.

They'll have to start running these top races elsewhere if the clerk's continue to be stubborn and not water the ass off these Flat Race tracks. Sort it out you Dicks.

If they did that it would lead to abandoned meetings in the winter as the water table would be artificially high

                          Essentially they can't win

As I said, they'll need to move tracks then. Can't carry on like this. It's pathetic.
