    I'm going and although i love the horse I'm against him today, I think they're just going to be running him over a load of random distances to get his mark down for the national, like the lucinda russell horse personally

      Surely this is the plan.

      He’ll be aimed at the national again so WPM will want a couple lbs off his back. Placed this year and surely a massive chance again this season, good age too.

        I've backed him today because I think a horse's mark can't be changed if they win a graduation chase. Would be the perfect thing to do for me if I was the owner - win a graduation chase so there's some money in the bank, then run poorly 2-3 times to get the mark down for Aintree. Obviously, plans out the window if the first part is wrong though!

          • ….Vanillier might return earlier than expected on Thursday;

            Last season’s Grand National runner-up Vanillier is set to start back on the road to Aintree by making an earlier than expected return to action at Thurles.

                Yep. Looking for a much improved performance. Got bogged down in the mud against YWIW at Wetherby. Ideal conditions today and Skelton's have been needing a run. She'll need to win today to have any chance of being considered for the Mares Hurdle. Hoping she does , and does it well as it'll give Dan the opportunity to push on with West Balboa for the Stayers Hurdle.

                That said, today's race is over 3m so if she were to bolt up they could consider the Stayers for Kateira and send WB to the Mares Hurdle......

                  Think Kateira had more pace….WB seems a slogger….but still fair point

                  Some of Skeltons seem to need run so should be better

                  • Why would they send her over 3m to come back in trip for the Mares? This may be lack of experience on my part but don't trainers usually start low then push them up in trip? This sounds like a race to see if she stays before considering where she and West Balboa go in March. I'd be watching today even if she does improve for the last run

                      It'll be an easy 3m on good Ground around Kempton si equivalent to 2 1/2 around Cheltenham on G/S. They've found a lovely opportunity for her to step up on her last run as well . I'm expecting her to win today and expect a price crash for the Mares.

                      • Jeriko Du Reponet also entered in the 2m5f novices hurdle on Saturday at Newbury. The plot thickens.

                          I'd say not really, every horse he's entered in the 2m race is also entered in the 2m5f race. Bit of Willie style block entries.

                            Any ideas if he did the same with Jonbon? Willie is known for that sort of thing but I wouldn't say it's Henderson's usual MO.

                              Yeah he might be looking at the forecast and the chance the Friday might be called off. Thursday chance of rain and could freeze there all week.

                              To me just he’s covering his options at a track he loves to send his better horses too.

                              He could go up in try who knows but he has already come out and said JDR looks a 2 miler

                                No idea, but wouldn't bother me if he did or didn't tbh. I seem to remember Shishkin having an entry over further than 2m though. In fact he won the Sidney Banks over 2m4f.
