Looking forward to seeing Matata again on Wed, front running aggressive type who was a joy to watch on chase debut. That Warwick race won by the English leading hopes the last two years(Jonbon/Edwardstone) not saying he's of that ilk and certainly doesn't have the hurdle accolades of either but he's very sharp, JPR is the best we've seen this side of the water to date at 2m but the trainer has mentioned he's going to mind him nto after the cruel fall on Friday. Matata hit 147 RPR on debut, run to that and he should be the one to beat on Wed, will be interesting to see him on heavy as he's all pace and still keen and even 2m looks his limit so will reveal plenty about him.

Mr Policeman, Blood Destiny, Hunters Yarn and Il Etait Temps all entered in the 2m beginners chase at Fairyhouse on Friday.

That Betfair Chase field is looking like being a very small but interesting one though.
But Nichols has been very clear on it I suppose.

Today's been weird
Henderson coming out saying the now "3 miler" may run over middle distance at Ascot, all because it looks Haydock could be heavy.
BMG out again, so Nichols must be looking at forecast and is hopeful the ground wont be too bad
Jockey change
Smells to me. Feels like the trainers are covering their arses and hopeful something will happen between now and the weekend to either
a) give them a reason not to run (i.e. rain)
b) give them more of a reason to run (a NR in the top 3 in the market)
Do I blame them, no. But its so annoying.
Nichols has been fairly clear that the Betfair was up there as being a race he wanted to run BMG in, obviously seen the horse come out well after his last race and the going may well be ok for him. But still... the jockey change
Maybe making alot out of nothing here
One thing for certain is... if we had P-Rat, Shiskhin and BMG confirmed, booked up and running this weekend - i would buy my tickets and head down to Haydock. But its likley one of these wont run and I'm not prepare to play the IF and BUTS game with my plans for this weekend. So... based on this. I wont be there. And this is my problem with horse racing now

Could easily be proved wrong, but I'm more inclined to believe Nichols as he's given more detail, whereas Henderson's comments on Shishkin are all too familiar and wet. And the forecast doesn't suggest a deluge is on the way either.
