Some good prospects entered in the 2m novice hurdle at Ascot with Indeevar Bleu.
Diamond Ri - 115 RPR for his bumper win. Jango Baie - 2nd in a decent looking PTP. Pyrotechnic - French flat recruit. Melon is in the family. Tellherthename - beat Joyau Allen in his PTP and given a PTP rating of 96! Distantly related to Brandy Love. Ten Lengths Tom - 2nd in the Inthewaterside / Wrappedupinmay bumper
Doubt we will see them all in the race but would be good to see Indeevar Bleu come here and take on a couple of them.
…could be an interesting Mares Hurdle at Wetherby on Saturday. Amongs early decs (prices are with PP);
YWIW (6/4)
Luccia (6/4)
Kateira (5/2)
One of these could easily win Mares…,,most of favs are 4 soon to be 5 year olds & that age group rarely does well in open races. Triumph winners records year after are awful

Agree. Very, very difficult for all 5yo's and the older horses do hold an advantage from the start. I do think though that Lossiemouth was an exceptional Juvenile so she could break the mould.

I'd be surprised if luccia ran. Nicky normally sends his best novice mare to the Gerry fielden at Newbury and we've had a fair wedge of rain up here last couple of days so could even be heavy side of soft by Saturday. That said, it would be a big statement if she did run given she's on an attractive mark surely
The other two are definitely both of interest for mares hurdle though and hopefully there will be a decent WTAF option on both as I'd be happy to take the other as a loser to get the winner onside. Given Skelton targets the meeting a bit though, I'd probably favour kateira in this specific race
Wetherby race is over 2m though so this could suit Luccia as a starting point as Nicky has reservations about her staying 2 1/2.
Yeah completely agree with that - more concerned about ground and where Nicky seems to send his best one historically. That said, the RP tour does indicate its the plan so what do I know. Would be a brilliant early season race if all three were declared
I think Nicholls has a really tough decision with regards to Bravemansgame entry in the Charlie Hall this week.
We all know he won’t run him on really soft ground for his first run of the season but his issue will be saving him for Haydock which can be brutal conditions. Yorkshire/Midlands looks to be getting the worst of the rain from the storm hitting this week so Wetherby could be heavy. If I knew he was going the 11/10 is a cracking price imo!
I'd be flabbergasted if it wasn't heavy ground by Saturday at Wetherby, which is why I think BMG won't run. There's an RP article saying they want to run in Betfair Chase as well (although in fairness, I'm happy to discount Henderson saying he wants to run Luccia at Wetherby soooo... )
Owner quote in Racing Post:
“Our intention is to run in the Betfair Chase,” he said. “We put an entry in for the Charlie Hall just so it’s an option. If we get a bad long-term forecast for the north west then we may have a think about it, and he wouldn't run at Haydock on anything worse than soft.
“I think he’s in the prime of his life now so we’ve got to go for the biggest races which is why we’re aiming for Haydock. I’d have to respect Protektorat and Shishkin and any Irish representatives, but he’s won at the track before and I think it suits him. I’d go there with very high hopes.”
