But does anyone know if they have to have ran 3 times over fences to run in Saturday's Novice handicap class 2.
If so, I wonder if the UK handicapper won't even give Hollow Games a Mark ?
I don't know for sure but horses are having their debut over the code in novice handicap chases these days so I'd be surprised if HG didn't get a mark

Yeah, I know, it's the new for 2022/23 class 1 and 2 rules though that makes me doubt it.

edit, not really new for chasers actually.

I thought the same Lobos but just looked up the GN rules which say a horse must have run in 6 steeplechases by February 5 to qualify. Chemical Energy has only run in 3.

He won't run there then Maybe Gordon intends to run him in this race at Chelts? I know what you mean in respect of his mark changing should he finish 50l down, but I'd be surprised if the handicapper fell for that?

CHANGES TO CLASS 1 AND 2 HANDICAP HURDLE QUALIFICATION FROM OCTOBER 1ST, 2022

Owners and Trainers are reminded that from October 1st, a novice horse shall only be qualified to run in a Class 1 or Class 2 Handicap Hurdle Race if it has run a minimum of four times in Hurdle races in Great Britain, Ireland or France in accordance with paragraph 15 of the Weights and Handicapping Code.

Please note, this does not apply to Class 1 and 2 Handicap Steeple Chases, Novices’ Hurdle or Juvenile Hurdle Races. Qualification for these races remains at three previous runs in the appropriate race type.

Didn't realise it was such a blatant stop Willie Mullins running his Grade 1 horses in the County Hurdle rule!

              • He'll still get one or two qualified.

Bloody hell I'd forgotten all about that one and had written it off as a loss. Just seen he's got an entry in the Ballymore and Bartlett too, maybe all hope is not lost.

Yeah knew that was mentioned just thought he could be entered in this one as well as it makes sense to enter him in both. The only two remaining 3m novice chases in Ireland
