All the grade 1’s for leopardstown at Xmas up to 29th on HRI.

Impaire Et Passé in the 3m chase along with Dancing City and couple others, no Ballyburn. Slade Steel in there too but surely he’s going for a beginners.

SS already ran in a beginners. Should have brought him on a ton . Hopefully Rach will be back on board. Nice to see him entered up over 3 though. With Ballyburn seemingly going Arkle that's exactly what I expected.

Henry said he'd run in a beginners NTO. If I recall correctly, he name checked a race at Naas which I presume to be the 2m4f race won by Blood Destiny from Heart Wood last year in mid-December.

Yep, several engagements possible. Depends on his homework and whether his jumping has improved as to where he runs next. If they are happy with him then I wouldn't be surprised to see him at Leopardstown.

Whilst several engagements might be possible, Henry has made it very clear that the preference is for another beginners. He's even earmarked the race. It'd be long odds against that he gets thrown in against better horses in a Grade One when his jumping needs work.

Henry would have worked tirelessly on his jumping since his last race. He's a master with chasers. IMO SS is his best Novice Chaser so he'll not be afraid to run him against the best. He'd learn a lot more from it even if he got beat again and the experience gained would be far more beneficial than beating trees in another beginners.

Don’t agree. I’d much rather he got a confidence building win where his jumping wouldn’t be under so much pressure as it would in a Grade 1 chase. Plenty time to run in a Grade 1 at the DRF then onto Cheltenham.

Pretty sure he was set to race Inthepocket in the grade one at xmas (racing post novice chase (now not there) last season) before getting injured in the build up. And he's been beat and given an easy time on his debut also.

So he has got form for this, although that may have been JP's lot having their say.

Inthepockets jumping wasn’t as slow and poor as Slade Steels if I recall though Q? As you say he was also given an easy time of it as we see with JP’s novice chasers on debut. Slade Steel was there to win and wasn’t anywhere near good enough. Even HDB said post race ‘maybe chasing isn’t his thing but they would give him another chance probably in a beginners’ (something along those lines if I’m remembering correctly).

Again, not sure what confidence can be gained from jumping slower than you would at the Festival against inferior horses around a minor track on your 2nd run of the season and then expect to throw him into the deep end for his final race before March. Could happen though but wouldn't be my choice.

Completely agree HDB is up there with the best in getting chasers jumping but I doubt in the space of time he’ll have turned Slade Steel into Altior to be winging them at Grade 1 level next time out imo.

I cashed my arkle bet on him after his race and backed for stayers.
