If it's clear that GDC will not stay the GC distance, which is entirely possible, then there's every chance Allaho will run in the GC alongside APT as Mullins will convince Cheveley Park that he can't possibly beat GDC in the Ryanair. Hope it doesn't turn out that way but it really is a possibility.

Agreed that Allaho would go to the Gold Cup if anything prevented Galopin from going there.
Its the status race (that the Ryanair ain't) and he'd want multiple horses in the race, as usual.

With the exception of 2017 (Djakadam) he has had 23 runners in the last 7 runnings of the Gold Cup (as low as 2 runners, as many as 5)

Willie would have several that could step into the Rynair (it doesnt have to be Galopin).

When Willie said he wasn't against dropping him back down in trip I did wonder which races he was referring to (not specifically Cheltenham). Energumene and Allaho on paper should be going the tried and tested routes of previous success but you'd have to question how much juggling about he's prepared to do.

Cant see Allaho staying the GC trip with a hill as well. Utter bollox in my view.

Allaho is the best staying chaser in training

If he got an uncontested lead, which he probably would as there are no proper front runners now native river has retired, allaho would have every chance in the gold Cup. He is after all much less exuberent and more tractable than he was at 5 and 6 in the bartlett and RSA.

Does anyone really think he wouldn't have won at punchestown if the race was a couple of furlongs longer

He'd get the entire field out of there comfort zone and they'd all finish absolutely legless and strung out like the washing

If he got took on for the lead then something similar to his RSA would likely happen

He will almost certainly not run though because Willie has GDC and stattler and the owners have A Plus Tard and the rysnair even now looks an open net

But if the gold cup was tomorrow and he was lining up hed be carrying my money, just like it did at punchestown when people kept telling me he wouldn't stay.

What I'm actually hoping will happen is that he will lose in the John durkan and go out to 3/1. He should've lost the race last year but asterion forlonge ruined my plans by falling over when a certain winner. Allaho improves a huge amount for the run so of anything useful takes him on in the durkan he will likely get beat and il be getting stuck in for the ryanair.

He wont be running in the john durkan if he is to go for the king george, which is a race that is tailor made for allaho..if he is to win that then with chievley scaling back in the NH stuff id say they will fire both nags at the GC?

Different trainers, so they could well give it a go with both.

A Plus Tard proved that a step up in trip to the Ryanair, can lead to a Gold Cup win.

Maybe Ferny could end up fit and well and in the Ryanair, there’s plenty of possibilities yet, nothing set in stone.

I can't see them not starting him in the durkan

It's the only 2m4f grade 1 race in Ireland for allaho

We may even see GDC vs Allaho there as its where Willie starts a lot of his horses off

He ran min, allaho, melon and tornado flyer in it a couple years back

And allaho, asterion, tornado flyer, janidil, kemboy, franco de port and melon last year

Sorry I’m late all. Have been away this week for a mates wedding.

I like Rays suggestion of a big priced Yankee which is probably going to be each way.

                      Well Done M.O. M . , .

I mentioned it in last month's Yankee thread., Blue Lord - champ chase @ 33-1. ( coral ) seems good Value to me.
I suppose he could go to the Turners , but i'm thinking the champ chs. for now.

Big price yankee suggestion (all odds B365)

PLAN OF ATTACK (X Country) 40-1

Ran three times over course and distance last season posting a 143 rpr on each occasion - the last being a 22 length third to Delta Work.

The heavy ground probably wasn't ideal and there will be no Tiger Roll next year when Plan of Attack will be 10 and this will almost certainly be the target again.

A 143rpr has made third place in three of the last five runnings of the X Country - and would have gone close in the other two: 143, 145, 139, 146, 142.

Is he likely to beat Delta Work? No.

But Plan of Attack is admirably consistent round Cheltenham (also ran well in the Kim Muir on 2 occasions), has a top trainer and if anything happens to Delta Work the race is blown wide open.

                        GALA MARCEAU (Triumph) 33-1

Unbeaten in 2 hurdle starts in France and now with Willie. Will benefit from the mares allowance. A stab in the dark but hard to ignore at the price and with those connections.

                        BARRY THE BUTCHER (Bumper) 16-1.

Impressive point debut and thought to be heading for Henry or Willie.

Currently favourite for the Bumper but the price still has each way appeal. Another stab in the dark but a horse who has the potential for a big future.

                        EPATANTE (Champion Hurdle) 25-1

She'll be 9 next year and I think she'll be back for one last crack at Honeysuckle.

Epatante got much closer this year than last (beaten 3 1/2l compared to 9 1/2 in 2021).

And I just can't see Hendo wanting to run her in the Mares Hurdle. Throughout her career he has said she's a speed merchant whose best trip is 2 miles. Two-and-a-half round Cheltenham in March does not play to her strengths.

Sure, there are all sorts of young pretenders being touted for the Champion Hurdle.

But Epatante has the numbers on the board: 2,3,1 in the last three runnings.

Unlike some of the others, she will probably get there and be primed for the day - and it's probably close to evens she will make the frame.

                        ACCA WIN ODDS: 616,147-1
                        EACH WAY ACCA 617,869-1
                        1pt EACH WAY YANKEE 717,381-1

The other one that could be worth exploring is JANIDIL (Ryanair) who is 25-1 with most firms but 365 haven't priced him up. I've requested a price and will post it here if anyone is interested.

Two-and-a-half miles around Cheltenham is his trip and if 365 matched Unibet's 33-1 I'd make him decent each way value to hit the frame again next March (2nd this year).

                          ….giving this a bump as it’s getting to the business end of the month. A big priced e/w theme has been agreed by MoM, just having a quick scan, the following have been nominated;

I'll chuck another in for good measure - Shanbally Kid for The Albert Bartlett. He won his 2nd bumper easily and achieved an RPR of 114, beating Top Speed into 3rd place. Top Speed had previously posted an opening RPR of 95 in his 3 mile p2p debut so hopefully a decent prospect. Shanbally Kid is by Presenting so hopefully his pedigree is laden with stamina and given that we have already found the winner of The Ballymore, I suggest he goes for The Bartlett! Top Speed is as low as 25/1 for the AB with Sky so the 50/1 with Bet 365 for Shanbally Kid appears reasonable value. Only a few bookmakers are quoting Shanbally Kid so I appreciate options are limited.

Good call - thought his second run was impressive. Great price.
