  • May Yankee

As usual, with no new info to go on in the summer months, these will generally have a theme to them for the next three yankees.

Going for a theme here of a Mullins Yankee and will start the nominations off with Galopin Des Champs for the Gold Cup.

Sir Gerhard for the Turners. Proven over the trip at the course and i dont think willie will be wanting to go down to 2m again after punchestown. I know trying to play mullins bingo at this early stage is a death wish but i feel there is good value for a dual festival winner to be BP 8/1 this far out.

Got no choice but to play Mullins bingo for this Yankee!

      I’d go for…..

      El Fabiolo - Arkle
      The Nice Guy - BANC
      Klassical Dream - Stayers
      GDC - Gold Cup

All pretty certain targets. 3266/1 with Betfair for the 4-timer.

I think Capodanno is worth including , for the Gold Cup and still available at 20-1 plus . ,
Willie Mullins said he would probably be a gold cup horse after his Win at Punchestown in April.
Will be a Seven year old , Second season chaser .... fit's the Bill nicely . .

Could look at one or two that aren’t complete shorties this far out (so parked FV, Galopin, Energumene in that category)

          that brings in…….

          Gaillard Du Mesnil - NHC

          El Fabiolo - Arkle Chase
Redemption Day - Supreme Novice Hurdle
          Brandy Love - Mares Hurdle
Gaelic Warrior - Ballymore Novice Hurdle
Capodanno and Stattler - Gold Cup

Klassical Dream is not one Ive been keen to back in the past. but he is running at the weekend in France so we will learn a bit more then, about his ability to produce away from Ireland, these days.

Another vote for The Nice Guy in the BANC - form looks rock solid and a fairly clear target.

We’ve already had him in the last 2 Yankee’s. An injury or Mullins switch away from disaster with all your eggs in the same basket. I’d be looking at some from -

              Gailard du mesnil nh chase
              Allegorie de vassy Mares chase
El fabiolo or Dysart Dynamo arkle
Sir Gerhard or Minella Cocooner turners
              Redemption day supreme

Can I throw Barry the Butcher in for the bumper? His point 2 point race will throw up plenty of winners and he won with ease, will be 5 next year like the majority of Mullins previous bumper winners. 33s long gone but 18s still available in places.

As BarrowNH01 says, Sir Gerhard in the Turners isnt the worst bet to consider at 8s.

Stattler is better value for the Gold Cup than GDC in my eyes. Yes GDC looks a monster but he has got to prove he can mix it outside of novice company and the history books will show Stattler has course form over fences and we know he stays the trip.

Going to wave the flag for........
Dysart Dynamo any race with skybet.
Thinks its silly we are not using this option more in the Yankees.

Apparently is going to HDB, same owners as James' Gate etc.

I don't know much about this horse but I know he is by Nethaniel out of Speciosa and was bought out of Pam Sly's yard. He was very green on his only start and she was keen to point out he is just a big baby and will improve. He will be 5 next January so may be an outsider for The Champion Bumper although he's not quoted at present. The horse is called Special Cadeau. Maybe one for the notebook rather than the May Yankee??

A lot of us can’t bet with that firm and the idea behind these is that we all get on collectively so we need the bet to be available through various companies which unfortunately the any race option isn’t readily available.

Seen this yesterday, I had assumed Michael Looby was correct when he said on Twitter he'd heard he was going to Willie.

….a very speculative shout for An Tobar, Ballymore @ 25-1 365 (generally 20-1 elsewhere).

Highlighted here for its P2P win so there is some justification for the hype. The speculation comes with the target but the Bally looks most likely to me & that price could look very juicy after his debut.

Might be one to have onside early.

Brandy Love still as good as any bet of Willie's imo. At least you can be fairly certain of the target as well!
