  • …..Tingle Creek next weekend. No idea of intended runners but there a few Tingle/CC offers;

Ferny Hollow 14-1 (Sky); 20-1 (PP)
    Shishkin 7-1 (PP)
    Greaneteen 25-1 (Sky)
    Gentleman de Mee 33-1 (PP)

    • I haven't seen anything on Ferny for the Tingle Creek - in Mullins stable tour he mentions lower graded races for experience - but has anyone seen anything? 6/1 that is around looks great value if I had any confidence he will turn up

Gentleman de mee was namechecked for the race and has had his prep run for it. Ferny was a non runner from his lower grade race due to the ground suggesting he still needs that "experience" they talk about. I'd be surprised if there was an about turn now that meant ferny went over gdm but agree 6/1 is a belting price if anyone knew anything more as I'd have ferny beating gdm in a match

Surely he won't send him to the TC first time up ?
Can't see any of his at Sandown.

Gentleman de Mee is in, Ferny Hollow not confirmed. Still time before closes at midday but would be strange for Willie to go back and confirm Ferny after already confirming GDM about 10 minutes ago.

            • Shishkin is looking like an intended runner, not sure the 6/1 is that great a price for Ferny Hollow imo.

If folk are worried about Shishkins well being surely the same must be said of FH?! He’s had far more issues than Shishkin.

FH hollows injury are fairly black and white whereas Shiskins rare bone condition is a completely unknown. NH in stable tours never sounded like they knew exactly what they were dealing with. Although as cautious as NH is they wouldn’t intend to to run him unless they were confident he’s okay which is a +.

I agree on the type of injuries front but as you’ve said he’s said recently they’ve been delighted with his work at home etc.

I know that doesn’t mean something might not turn up again but injuries aside Ferny Hollows form isn’t stacking up too well either. If Shishkin is A1 then he should win comfortably imo.

                  • No rain due at sandown and grounds already good I believe. Shishkin won’t be running I wouldn’t of thought unless the taps gets turned on

                      …Shishkin 5-1 Sky & into 6-1 with PP.

Ferny Hollow not entered, no revised offer for Gentleman de Mee.

I we're thinking Shishkin won't run, wouldn't that make the 33's for GDM a decent way of getting him on board ?

                          • Be careful backing early for Sandown at the weekend.

Maybe leave it until NRNB kicks in after Thursdays Decs.

If theres not enough rain, it could be too quick for some of the good horses, on the chase course

….it might have been this morning but I don’t see an offer for him at the moment. He was actually 20-1 with PP a few weeks ago, so 33-1 was decent. I can only think his entry today surprised them. Greaneteen is still 25-1 with Sky but they still have Ferny listed in their doubles.

i expect most firms offering these bets will price them all up in the next day or so.

Nicky Henderson and Alan King have warned a dry forecast could jeopardise their plans to run star two-mile chasers Shishkin and Edwardstone in Saturday’s showpiece Betfair Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown (2.55).

Andrew Cooper, clerk of the course at the Esher track, on Monday began selective watering on the chase course in the latter half of the back straight to maintain good ground, describing conditions as good, good to soft in places and "a 50-50 split" between the two. The hurdle course is soft.

No rain is forecast this week at Sandown, where the first jumps meeting of the season this month was abandoned after three races due to waterlogging, with Henderson describing the way the ground has soaked up any rain since a dry and hot summer as “ridiculous”.
