Can anyone see Galvin taking in the Cross Country (a year late).
I just wonder whether Elliot may see this as a better route to the 2023 National, I think their Gold Cup ambitions are likely to end now, could be wrong but surely he’s unlikely to find sufficient improvement to win one.
Every chance the bookies will think he heads back to the blue ribband so he should be a price for the XC…
….I certainly think the GN is the key objective next season. Elliott said recently that he will run at Aintree ‘in the future’. I expect they’ll try & get his mark down and the XC is certainly a possibility.

That wouldn't surprise me at all, maybe a couple of defeats next season then back to form in the xc after the national weights are unveiled ! Or am i being cynical !?
On reflection I think the Cross Country might be a race to avoid.
There's been a few renewals where a high class chaser has appeared from nowhere and taken the glory, not something any of us could have known months out.
Delta Work looks the real deal (obviously) but if Mullins was to think the switch would work for an Al Boum Photo or Elliott thinks Galvins bet shot at National glory is to come via this route we're all going to struggle with an ante post position.
Happy to swerve...
I personally think you’re spot on. Happy to go with the majority but I think if he’s still the one for this around December time, he won’t be far off the current price of 9/4. Not one for 12 months prior in my view
I think they'll have another crack at the Gold Cup with Galvin. The pace this year was unusually slow and that would have played against him being a thorough stayer. When they sit back and take stock, they will think a more generous pace next year would give him a better chance. IT would be up to them to put something in there to make sure it was though.
On the way there, they'd hope to pick up a Grade 1 somewhere, so I think it's unlikely he'll be be run down the field anywhere just to get 3 or 4lbs off.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.
I always like backing the best Bumper/novice hurdlers who often go on again to win the next year at novice level. Excluding Constitution Hill, as he looks like he won't be going down the novice route.
Facile Vega - Supreme
Jonbon - Arkle
The Nice Guy - Brown Advisory (edit, I put National Hunt for some reason!)
American Mike - Ballymore

Hi Spectre, could i please ask, do you mean Galvin himself managing/bullying the race and control the pace they run at, or placing a pace maker in the race to push it along?

I would think the best option would be for Elliott to put something in there to ensure they go a true Championship gallop, and for Galvin to be staying on strong at the end Clinker.

Given the record of formerly known as RSA runners in the subsequent Gold Cup, L'Homme Presse at 8s?
I find myself almost having to back him just because of the record of rsa horses in the following gold cup, ahoy senor would be another of interest if they can get him jumping less like a fridge freezer !

I like the horse and he could be a live challenger for the blue ribband but for me 8/1 offers absolutely no value whatsoever.
I haven’t checked the market but I would think it should be 16/1 bar APT right now, though it clearly isn’t…

He was 12s a couple of days ago, bookies taking no chances are they

So disappointing, although however horrendous we think Lhomme Presse and the Gold Cup market is it's still not as horrendous as 365s Champion Hurdle market...

I keep going back and checking their prices to see if they've realised they've made a mistake and rectified the prices but they've haven't yet !
