Cheltenham 2023 - Early fancies

Someone convince me Three Stripe Life will be better over fences than hurdles !
I know he might not need to be much better, but I can't have him purely on the breeding side.
I know it's early days for Leading Light but that and the dam's sire put me off sufficiently, especially at the prices.
& Montjeu doesn't help much (granted, Noble Prince is a plus)

He's certainly built for a fence. Seeing him in the flesh he a nice big rangy type that doesn't look like a fence will inconvenience him. We know he acts at Cheltenham having done so twice now, and despite finishing close to Sir Gerhard, he was given plenty to do and was closing up the hill, which suggests that he is more than willing. I'd like to see them make a bit more use of him this season and put him into his races earlier. I know he's had some wayward tendencies which is why they switch him off, but he's shown no signs of it recently and I think there's more to come from him.

On the breeding side I don't think Leading Light has been getting the best of mares, but I think he will turn out to be a good NH stallion. I think he'll get a breakout year soon, and he'll start having graded winners. His Dam has proven to be a useful broodmare, and probably one of the best to visit Leading Light. Mid-trip looks fine for now, but he'd likely have no problem stepping up to 3 miles plus.

You can see why given previous success CoD. Definitely interesting, but I'm not sure he has the same level of ability as Zanahiyr. Obviously there are good reasons why horses improve, but he's not quite in the range I'd want to see for a Triumph winner. I think from memory only Pentland Hills has come from a similar flat base in recent years, and he was fortunate that Sir Erec had his fatal injury in what turned out to be a very weak and easy Triumph to win. I suspect NYH will be more of a Boodles type. Gordon could improve him significantly though and I've added him to my tracker.

Yeah, I actually agree, with regards to the Boodles being the likely race for him, based on his flat form alone. One to keep an eye on for sure.

Possibly out this season, but wouldn't surprise me if held back, as they are from the flat, and WPM has other juveniles that wouldn't be novices next season, that will likely make the most of being juveniles this season, i.e. Gala M & Lossiemouth.

Doubly frustrating as he could be another Ballymore contender. Although HDB might hold him
back for a novice hurdle campaign next year.

The bumper I’ve always found a difficult race to fathom, but over the past 4 years it’s become a little antepost goldmine for me, having never had the winner before. I’ve made some simple assumptions and just tipped away on better days ahead. Hope to see him scoot up in bumper at down royal end of October and sit at top of market

I kind of agree with the initial thoughts but the breeding side still puts me off.
It’ll probably cost me
I might have a look further down the fields for similar types. If it was for the arkle I’d definitely not consider him - so I’ll see how he jumps

Nope. I’ve been checking Twitter for news of late but nowt forthcoming. He’s one I’m very interested but I have that niggle about him not being at a top yard. As much as I love to see the little guys prevail, it’s rarely happening these days.
