  • ….I like Ferny for the QMCC but with a ? over his reliability and doubts about those ahead of him in the market, Gentleman de Mee looks a bit of value at 14-1 in a couple of places.

Aintree might have suited but he put Edwardstone firmly in his place with that win & could be an improver.

Envoi Allen entered for Saturdays Celebration Chase at Sandown, he could yet throw his hat into the ring…

having not already backed him will definitely swerve him at 8/1, is he definitely being put away for the rest of the season as well?
Just flagged up on my tracker that Gaillard du Mesnil has a couple of entries at the punchestown festival .
        one over 2m 5f , and the other 3m .

I also like ferny but can't back him after doing so for the last 2 festivals, i can't risk the unwanted hatrick ! also agree with you about gentleman de mee being a bit of value, was impressed with that Aintree performance.

EDIT - I also think there will be value in the Gold Cup market next year as neither GDC nor Bob will go I don't think.
Hi Odin........where do you think the top horses will go next year ?

Less confident now after Willie's comments re: GDC but at the time of writing I thought both would go to ryanair. Since then, both trainers have suggested their horses need or would be better suited by 3m which particularly in the case of Bob strikes me as odd. Will be interesting to see how it all plays out. Biggest value in the gold cup could be monkfish now, but I was burnt last year thinking ferny was value for arkle so trying not to make same mistake twice!

These are Early Entries before GDM ran in the Irish National, and are part of the stables usual 'block booking' planning.

Willie has 6 others aside from GDM in the 3M Grade 1 NovCh and 13 in the midtrip Novice HcapCh.

He has ran horses in these races before after a run at Fairyhouse.

But this is when Fairyhouse (Easter) has been a couple of weeks earlier, and/or not usually on the back of an Irish National run.

I'd be surprised to see GDM run next week.

                • For those who haven't seen An Tobars PTP win, Michael Looby has posted a YouTube link of it

Looks like he's been shortened again by the bookies for the Ballymore today.

His any race price is appalling but I've chanced the Ballymore given he appears to be owner by Robcour and trained by HDB.

Managed to get 33s earlier this morning, shortly after his PTP win was posted on Twitter.

Half brother to Elle Est Belle and Rock On Rocco so you would think the mid trip would suit and he seems to have quite a bit of speed.

I've gone mostly Ballymore but had a small bet on any race but the Ballymore must be the early plan.

I didn't have much of a look but Hills were only 7s for any race so just went for the Bally.

                        • Mullins talking up State Man before Punchestown, assuming he is that G1 winner in waiting and he puts in a performance next week it’ll be fascinating to see how 365 price the Champion Hurdle.
                          Could have 3 horses sub 4/1 forty-seven weeks out…

An Tobar and Barry The Butcher both TWAR is 100-1 with Sky - was 125-1. But still decent value at this stage - entirely possible they could both end up in the Ballymore but maybe worth a nibble .

I was at Fairyhouse for the National and DEMANDRIVINGDOUVAN was the horse at the front of my mind.

He started by saying something along the lines of ‘lovely horse’ for those interested.

I also spoke to Paddy Mullins who said Barry the Butcher was “the best”. He was chuckling as he said it so take that as you will

Good to see a confirmation that Barry has gone to Willie then, very excited to see him next season
