Champion Hurdle - Bob O and State Man both 20/1
NH Chase - Hillcrest 16/1 but it's a leap of faith to assume he truly copes with the track
Mares Hurdle - TMSG appears quite short at 10/1 but it's a near certain target and not convinced the novices will progress enough to scare her next year
Cross Country - Shady Operator 25/1, chance ended with the monsoon but better ground and he is a serious XC horse
Ryanair - Conflated 25/1 and possibly My Drogo 20/1 at a push
        Gold Cup - Stattler 20/1
TMSG. I really like her but am holding off as thought she might go chasing. Has anything been quoted or is it just your opinion that she is near certain to stay hurdling?

        • Allaho 7/4 with PP

Jonbon cut across the board for the Arkle...

Constitution Hill 2s for the Champ Hurdle...

          Guna be a tough year...

I’ve not heard any chase talk YH, but that’s not to say there isn’t any.
I just take the view that she’ll be 8 next March which would be a late start to a chase campaign given that she presumably won’t be racing into her old age.
10/1 looks fair to me but like every ante post bet it comes with risks…

            • Not seen this posted but Henry on Bob O...

He added: "I think I'd be stepping up in trip, but I wouldn't like to judge him at all on what he showed last week because I don't think that was him.

"Ideally, we'd hope he could end up being a three-miler in time. He's not an extravagant jumper, we never thought he was a two-mile jumper."

Also said Honeysuckle was going to comeback for a third champion hurdle, so that seems a very unlikely option for Bob.

              • Any news on what state man does next year? 14-1 for arkle would be of great interest should he be campaigned over fences and with what is being said about SG and CH. put my week free bets on!
with the prices being quoted you’d think they’d be a bookie willing to go no runner no bet early doors and cut everything even shorter. Surely they want a book and not after antepost lost stakes

I'd definitely not be writing the track off for him yet.
Seemed to be of no hinderance when he won there on New Years Day.

May well be the case Jono, but it could be he is a better horse on a flatter track.
That New Years Day win was a solid performance but beating I am Maximus 2l off levels when that horse was 20l + behind Sir Gerhard in the Ballymore doesn’t, on the face of it, boost Hillcrests crudentials.
I like the horse despite my reservations but his target would be far from certain…

                    • Ones I liked priced up earlier today were

                      Jonbon - Arkle 14s

                      Gaelic Warrior - Ballymore 33s
(WPM and Rich Ricci both said he's going to the Ballymore)

                      Stattler - Gold Cup 20s
                      Farouk D'Alene - Gold Cup 33s

                      Mercurey - Supreme 20s

Mercurey in the Supreme should be the right race and it’s one of the better prices available right now. Rich will be mob handed with novice hurdlers next season and he looked the best.

I’m not as enthused with the second season Novices for Willie though and I can’t convince myself of Gaelic Warrior or Il Etait Temps being on the shortlist for next season.

                            • Ignoring the owners recent comments, id be very surprised if CH didnt go chasing next year. Henderson will have him schooling over fences and no doubt he will be electric. The owners arm is twisted etc… and we have the next Sprinter/Altior/Shishkin straight off the conveyor belt

Michael Buckley "Here's a horse who is favourite for the Champion Hurdle and the Arkle. He's had just three races and is only five, so it would make sense for him to stay hurdling for another year and get more experience." That whole article in the RP is geared towards CH staying over hurdles next season, so its really odd you just want to ignore this and back him over fences.
