Just copying this across from the Ultima thread...

I keep coming back to Frodon in this. To me, there's no doubt he's not the best handicapped horse in the race, but he's definitely been given a chance and there's a number of reasons I think he could end up just being a class above...

        1) Nicholls wouldn't run him if he wasn't really confident. The number of runners he's gonna have this festival will be single figures.
        2) I'm happy to discount the last run as terrible ground and stable under a cloud.
        3) This is a horse that beat Galvin earlier in the season, running in a handicap. Yes, he was trained to the minute, but I can't believe they would have left too much on Galvin either. I'd argue Frodon being trained to the minute is also an excuse of kind for a poor run in the King George as he may have been slightly over the top then/not quite tip top anyway.
        4) And most importantly. Front runners win this race. They get into a rhythm and nothing can get to them from behind. Frodon is a front runner who jumps outrageously well (and always has). He destroyed a Ryanair field a few years ago and has always been prominent in Grade 1s, jumping great, including the Gold Cup last year before not getting home.

If anyone can get double figures 7 places, it's an outrageous price imo, No horse in the field is as classy as him, no horse in the field jumps as well as him (imo, but feel free to throw a name at me), he'll love the ground and some of the field are out of the handicap because of him. I'm very worried for my 25/1 Vintage Clouds slip right now...

I've lost my way a bit with this so it's somewhat a combination of horses well fancied by me and the majority of the forum, and also a couple of selections more as cover bets.

            I've landed on;

            Jonbon
            Queens Brook
            Gaelic Warrior
            Run Wild Fred

Hills top priced at 318/1 the 4 fold.

They're ultimately not that inspiring prices but it's a tricky day to find four that are to be honest. Champion Hurdle is a write off. Arkle is arguably wide open, but I'm already balls deep on Blue Lord and have no idea what to save on. And the Ultima is obviously the interesting betting contest but there's little inspiration I can see there either.

            Onto the four then...

Jonbon doesn't get much love on here but I think is a real player now without Sir G in the race. Lovely slick hurdler and the pace set by the likes of DD and the better ground could see him perform much better than in the slowly run races he's been contesting. I've still not got him backed to win in any bet, other than this. So he's plugging a gap here for me at least.

Queens Brook is also a plug gapping horse for me. She's one that I wouldn't have on my radar but for this place. And she's been suggested in here by quite a few. As I said the intention of the Yankee was to get a couple of these covered I think she fits the bill nicely. And again it'll be my only bet on her anywhere.

Gaelic and RWF I think most people have backed one way or another but it'd be nice to have at least some return. They're the two most named in this thread as well and my two main players in their respective races. I've bottled OTR against RWF because I fear him getting left behind after jumping the first couple badly and looking an awful selection...

Pretty sure no single person had all four of those together at least.

As usual I've had a few beers if some of this doesn't make sense...

Good luck Benjy23 - hoping you can bring home the bacon!

Edit - just placed this and if they all win, it pays for my festival so definitely hoping you bring home the bacon now!

Mrs gave me the money to pay off the balance on our first family holiday in years this morning.

it’s not due to be paid until next Monday, so I’ve hatched cunning plan.

                          I’ve lumped on the 6 forum Yankee’s.

The Mrs will be overjoyed when I tell her next week that we’re not going to the Costa Del Sol but to Mauritius instead.

I have every faith in the forum captains.

                          Captain My Captain!!!
