CHELTENHAM SQUID GAMES COMPETITION
Hi all, I use to run the big meeting competitions back in the day on the sun racing site, so I thought I would put one up for Cheltenham, which is a bit different from the normal points for win comps. i Apologise for stepping on anyone’s toes.
This is something I‘m doing with my mates for Cheltenham where we all put money in and winner takes all, but obviously this will be more for fun!
As it pretty much says in the title and for those who haven’t seen the series, it’s basically you have to get past each race and whoever gets the furthest wins.
These are the Rules:
- Place Rule: On each day you put up all your selections before the start of the 1st race, no changing your selections afterwards.
- In all graded races, no mater how many horses run, if your horses finish in the TOP 3, you move onto the next race, if your horse finishes out of the top 3 you are out.
- Place Rule: In all handicap races / bumper / Fox Hunters / Cross country your horse needs to place in the top 4. BUT you can pick two horses in each of these races.
- Chance Rule: Like in the series the contestants received some help, so seeing as we might all select Honey Suckle in the Champion Hurdle and if she were to fall then the game would be over for everyone. So, to keep people in as long as possible, if any of your selections in any race who is still in contention of placing falls / gets hampered or goes wrong in anyway that will be classed as getting through to the next round. This will be the rule for every race.
- Non Runner Rule: If you have a non runner after the 1st race starts, you get a pass in that race as it will be too late to change your selection.
- Skip Rule: Again, like in the series, one of the contestants skipped a game as they couldn’t play, so keeping to the Squid game rule and to keep people in the competition longer you are allowed to skip one race per day, as some of the handicaps can be hard and everyone has a race they do badly in each year!
- Extra Life Rule: Like in the series we thought the old man was dead, but he was still alive at the end, so you can have 1 extra life if your horse doesn't place in any race. BUT you can only use this once (not 1 extra life per day)
- Last Rule - Last Man/Women standing wins.

Supreme – Sir Gerard
Arkle – Blue Lord
Ultima Handicap Chase – Does He Know & Aye Right
Champions Hurdle – Honey Suckle
Mares Hurdle – Tellmesomethinggirl
Boodles – SKIP
National Hunt – Staller
If you get through all the races, you move on to day two, if you don’t then you are out.
Hopefully some people will get through to day 4 as this will be very hard to do and if anyone makes it all the way, then they will be crowned a Fat Jockey Legend.
