He was trying last time out at Cheltenham, and he will be at Kempton if they run him.
It remains to be seen how deep the race will be at Kempton, and I imagine it'll be no less deep in the Ultima, in differing ways.
A maximum field would be a surprise.
These UK trainers aren't shy of ignoring decent prizes.
That’s what concerns me, trying to win a race that close to the festival, cos it will take a fair bit out of him I imagine.

      Into 12/1 best price now… tell a lie it’s still 20/1 365 antepost section

….plenty of 20-1 available for the Coral Trophy Handicap Chase, 365 are shortest at 14-1.

That's probably a better option than the Kempton race, with a view to the Ultima.

I know it's not the be-all and end-all and that stats are there to be broken, but it's another 2.5m race rather than stepping him up to the 3m, which is.. interesting...

                I agree.

If the aim is the Ultima then he will run at Warwick on
Friday in an easier race over a shorter trip to try and win to get his mark up.

If the aim isn't the Ultima, he will go for the bigger pot at Kempton and try and win it.

They'd be nothing left after flogging himself in a 150K race at Kempton - to expect an Ultima win to have been the no1 plan 2 weeks later.

We will know for sure on Wednesday if he's declared for Warwick.

I expect him to be in the Warwick race.
Why enter him for it yesterday if Kempton the following day was Plan A all along?

I'd say that it's good news for the Ultima this Warwick entry, as it seems an obvious opportunity to gain a rise.
WArwick's not ideal for this though to be fair, but the opposition might be.
He'll be missing the big RPR stat, which means he's got no chance in the Ultima
But we might at least get a run for our money (probably), and I'll be relieved for Spectre, just by getting a run to be honest.

Possible options if ground becomes an issue? or cancelled meeting?

With a view to the Ultima?

Given theyre 2 massive prizes over 3M only 2 weeks apart then the horse was only ever going to run, with a win chance, at Kempton or Cheltenham IMO.

So the Warwick entry is a good sign for the Ultima.

Not a definitive one, but a good one.

Could be a back up as he needs 8 horses above him to come out to get a run on Saturday. Should know better tomorrow when the 5 day entries for Saturday are published. Is he still entered and if so what is his latest racecard number (max 20 runners)

                          • Part of the plan... Harry Cobden strike rate for Nick Williams 4 wins, 2 x 2nd and 4 x 3rd. from 16 rides. Plus he rode Galahad Q to win the Triumph hurdle trial G2 at Cheltenham 25/01/2020. With Nichols looking light on a Ultima runner Harry C will be available for the race also.

Save you money MrX. GQ has absolutely no chance of winning an Ultima.
