Champion Bumper 2021

Why would he not qualify? He is 6, has only run in 3 Bumpers has been placed. What am I missing?

2020 Conditions (I assume these have stayed broadly the same)
“For four, five and six-year-olds only which have not run under any recognised Rules of Racing, except National Hunt Flat races, Irish National Hunt Flat races or French AQPS races. Horses are not to have run in more than four National Hunt Flat races and, before February 26, must have been placed first, second, third or fourth in such a race.”

He won (at least) one bumper last season, does this not make him ineligible ?

I may be wrong (it has been known) but I don’t see how based on the conditions. He won two bumpers last year before finishing seventh in his third bumper. ie it doesn’t say you not eligible if you won in a previous year.

I think a horse called Vigil ran in it twice, and he won each season?

Perhaps he can!

Gigginstown owned though so that's a red flag straight away.

Yep, if I'm going off the wording of the rules also, I'm inclined to agree now. Always assumed it was for bumper 'novices' only. But as Kev says, owners hate this race so major red flag straight away..

Yes, the race has nothing to do with novices, its based on max number of runs, age, and not going hurdling.
