Unless he has one he feels has solid chances

Strictly on what ive seen Sir G then has nothing to worry about here then. I think Sir G is on a par with those two already and he still has likely two more runs to enhance his rating even further.
Id be more concerned he might injure himself between now and March. He just screams class and looks the next Cheveley Park superstar rolling along production line, love to know who actually recommends these horses to them , what a eye he/she must have about horse constitution.

Oh absolutely, Sir Gerhard is my main bet here and I'd even be half tempted to top up. 6/1 still isn't the worst price in the world for an absolute aeroplane of a yoke. But others make good points it is only October so can't be too trigger happy on the bumper. I like David Mullins though, he is brutally honest and has a good eye. He has no bother calling out some of Willies horses that are big and dopey too.

You're dead right, he'd want to be minded. Because going forward he's a multiple grade 1 winner potential.

Yeah, they've have some arsenal of young horses atm. Someone mentioned how they're like this era's version of Ricci's stars. Now a lot of them still have a lot to prove but the potential is there. Seems to be no shortage of money anyway, Sir Gerhard was 400k!!

Not really. He's had plenty of decent ones in the past, including Sprinter Sacre, that he's avoided Cheltenham with.

At least Sir G runs in a race without any obstacles to get over, which cuts out one big issue that all the other runners in the 27 other races have to encounter - if they actually get there.
Yes, but the pool of horses for those races is smaller and much better known.

Sir Gerhard had a perfect trip and ran away from a horse who has now been hammered by three Elliott horses. The third was ridden as if he would struggle to get home and he didn't. It was visually impressive but no more than that. People are talking as if they have never seen a bumper horse quicken up before. It is hard to believe there are no other horses who could have done similar. There was probably very little substance to the performance and he is now priced more on the basis that the owners have won the last two Bumpers than anything else. At his age they should really be thinking about the bigger picture and jumping hurdles.

              Amen to that.
              Couldn't agree more.
He did look a weapon though !

Don't forget Mullins mare Brooklynn Glory. Mares have great record in the race considering how many turn up.

                • You have to say "hats off" to the buyers working for Cheveley Park. Some serious purchases. If only Manure & Suede could get their hands on someone decent to buy some equine stock.

A little off topic but has Footpad been seen since he was sold to the yanks?

I haven’t caught up with all the replays yet but I’ll take a look for sure.

That rating is 1lb better than Queens Brook got when finishing 3rd in the Champion Bumper.

Seems to show that the good ones may be coming out early.

In the Racing Post Patrick Mullins mentioned a Graded race at Navan, if it didn't come too soon.

He then mentioned they hope she may be classy enough for Aintree.

I am assuming that means the Grade 2 at April's Grand National meeting.

                            • Fiston Des Issards entered in a hurdle Sunday, must be skipping bumpers
Glenglass also declared in a bumper this week on Thursday - should be a nice type

Very interesting regarding FDI. He carries with him some hype so could be a lively one for the Ballymore or AB.
