  • Which Horse will end up highest rated from the Arkle 2020

After Rouge Vif won a handicap today at Cheltenham, we've seen some healthy debate about whether the Arkle form was franked or not...

So..... let's nail our colours to the mast.....

    Notebook for me

The highest rating doesn’t mean I think he will win at Cheltenham - although reduced crowds could help this next year - but big wins in Ireland could get him the rating

I went for Fakir. There could be a fair bit of improvement if/when they step up in trip.

I've backed him for the Champion Chase and any race but it wouldn't be unheard of for an Arkle runner up to become a player in the following seasons Gold Cup.

I'm annoyed that there's no Annoyed option.

I’m not sure there’s ever been such a devisive race debated here.
          Fakir is my answer...

Gone with Fakir, but that doesn’t mean I’m not in the PTKO camp for the Champion Chase with the mares allowance on her side.

Fakir has age on his side in terms of scope for improvement, and as stated up-thread may end up being competitive in races like the Ryanair / Gold Cup and other non-Cheltenham prestigious races at middle and longer distances.

It’s going to be very interesting to see how the Arkle form stacks up after all of the debate.

I'm assuming base OR. No + 7 for PTKO. In which case Rouge Vif with a likely new mark of 165 is already there

Fakir will come up against some difficult opposition over middle distance

                  PTKO, depends where she races

Are people starting to compare Rough Vif to Fox Norton, after yesterdays win

Notebook, can see that horse regressing

                  Cashback, nope

Al Dancer, handicapper. Will probably win one big handicap race and then struggle to win anything else

No.... idea. I think this post of mine has been pointless lol

PTKO if its just this season its based on.

The 7lb allowance added would make the difference.

I picked brewin. course I did. He would have won the race if he didn't fall. That is a scientific fact.

In many ways he is the true Arkle winner as he crossed the line in front, just without a jockey. This makes him resourceful and I for one respect that in a horse.

And let me tell you now I will personally swim over to Ireland and congratulate PTKO myself if, on the slim to nill chance, she finishes the season higher rated than him.

No, I do not regret having a bottle of wine with(/for) lunch.

                      Yours truly,
