...it’s also amongst favourites for AB, I was hoping to see a much better a/r offer than the 12-1 from Sky. Hoping somebody requests it from Hills.

Wish I’d seen this post before. Sky have done exactly this - settled the special as a losing bet.

I think that’s shithousery of the highest order. ABP historically takes in the Tramore race, was never going to run in yesterday’s affair at Leopardstown. Even if you thought he might, the 8/1 offer given the quality of the field wouldn’t have interested you.

Speak to them on live chat as it's clearly an error on their part.

Are you serious GS? I was very cautious about it as mentioned but didn't know if would definitely be the case! Bullet dodged by me, read the small print folks! But seriously id get on to them! But on a technicality they could use the Print as thier evidence Savilles 2020!

Live chat not working for me. Swapping messages via Twitter and they’re adamant it’s been settled correctly.

                  • I see now the same bet was offered by WH - wish I’d used them and will be using them from now on!

                    • Sorry to go on but I need to vent!

initially I was angry at myself for not triple checking the wording - and I still am. Lesson learned.

however, the more I think about it the more I think Skybet are charlatans.

the race at leopardstown is a grade 1 worth €150,000 and of course attracted a large grade 1 quality field. Had Sky indeed intended the special they offered to be for this race, the odds they offered of 8/1 was far too low to be thought of as value. However, they also would have known as we all do, that ABP’s preferred route is the Tramore race on New Years Day. Which is a grade 3 with just €30,000 on offer and therefore attracts a field of equivalent quality.

Also of note, is William Hill’s offer (clearly worded) for the same special of Tramore and GC - at the same odds.

I can’t help but think given the above, Sky have either deliberately worded the original bet for the sole purpose of taking money they knew they had zero risk of paying out. Or they realised the incorrect wording and used it to get out of the bets afterwards - especially maybe now they’ve realised how much they’ve taken on the bet and how easy (on paper) the first leg looks now final declarations are known.

I know all bookies have a poor reputation, and call me naive, but this is the first time in my life I believe I’ve been wronged by a bookie.

angry at myself and angry at Sky.

                        They're cheating you.
You should pursue it as it sounds like your initial approaches have been answered by monkey tellers.

                        • I feel like the right thing they should do is give you your stake back. Dunno how much you have on but should pursue it with them! However, they don't have to refund you with the wording they have put, may seem unfair but it was stated black and white.

                            Try this:

                            1) As FM says get on to their customer service, generally (not Skybet specific) I have found bookies very accommodating in voiding antepost bets in a few cases when they had absolutely no duty to do so. In this case will be very surprised if they do not void

                            2) If that fails threaten that you will go to the Independent Betting Adjudication Service (IBAS)

                            3) If that also fails go to the IBAS and fill in the online form. Only ever done this once, took about 6 months but Ladbrokes sent a grovelling apology and paid me out in full on the bet I queried

Yeah I’ve always done well out of emailing or contacting the Online bookmaker direct and explaining the situation. Remember your manners and promise to always read the bet carefully again and you’ll probably get a refund, I do on many occasions. I think they have a quick scan over my bet history to see that I’ll lose the money again within the hour!!

                              • I'd keep going with it Garrison Savannah - it's luck of the draw who you get through to on live chat...but eventually they'd be able to clarify with whoever priced it, which race was meant.

You shouldn't need it, but a good will gesture on their part will probably come, but you'll have to remain calm and repeat yourself quite a lot.
