NO - The last five GB trained novices to win all had previously won a hurdle with a first prize of at least ?10k.
YES - All winners this century had recorded their best RPR over at least 3 miles.
YES - 7 of the last 8 had run at a previous Festival.
NO - 4 of the last 7 ran in the Newbury Ladbroke Chase. The other three were novices.
YES - No Irish trained winner since 2006.
YES - Six of the last seven winners all rated at least 142 and none SP bigger than 11/1.
We can't lay claim to much in handicaps on this side of the Irish Sea, but the Irish haven't won this since 2006 so siding we a horse that is confirmed, won over 3m+ around cheltenham and ticks all the above boxes seems like more than a reasonable bet @ 27/1 IMO.
He's the one I put up for this race when we did the 28 Festival Race picks a month or so ago.
Was waiting for confirmation he would go here, as a few weeks back Kim Bailey quoted a Graded Festival race was the plan, cant quite recall whether it was the NHC or the RSA.
Great he has given the thumbs up for here, so feel safer he will get entered next Monday by KB."Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".

Question: 'Hi Kim, any idea of which race we might see Happygolucky in at Cheltenam'
Kim: 'Ultima'
Didn't leave much room for interpretation

I thought it was as
Kevloaf , and I had a conversation about my thoughts on why I’d picked Happygolucky (Ultima) and Paint The Dream (Plate) and their strong form including from a clash with each other early in the season.
I think I cashed out the Ultima originally after Kim Bailey said that he intended to run Happygolucky in the NHC.
Now he’s come round to my way of thinking and said it’s the Ultima, I had to reback him again.

Has anyone heard anything about Whatmore? I’ve seen him in the betting and backed him with B365 at 33/1 for the Ultima. He was 4th in the Novice Handicap Chase behind Imperial Aura & Galvin last Festival. So far this season he has raced twice finishing second at Ascot in October behind Regal Encore in a very competitive race and then 2nd again behind Yorkhill at Newcastle in November with Taking Risks behind in 4th who recently won the Skybet Chase. Currently rated 149, he’s a second season chaser who has two very good 2nd place performances under his belt this season. I can’t find any information about his spring target or any future entries but could be a good value each way bet in this race.Last edited by The King Pimm; 18 February 2021, 11:55 PM.
