  • Topped up on One for the Team 25/1 & Canelo 33/1 with bet365, both ran just ok yesterday at Doncaster on that awful ground and should be dropped a pound or so ahead of this race.

They called that ground soft, good to soft in places, looked an absolute gluepot to me and I’m happy ignoring every poor performance...

Looked rough, says it all when Taking Risks won it who looked like he could have gone round another lap.

not to my eyes ..though he is bred to stay it.. would have expected to see him entered in staying races at some point which iirc hasnt happened ..but as u say its a no risk bet as he is shorter if he gets an entry gl

            • With all the talk today about latest handicap marks, on an unrelated topic I notice that The Conditional isn't entered for the rearranged Cotswold Chase at Sandown on Saturday.

Does this indicate they are going lukewarm about the Gold Cup idea for him, or just waiting for the Denman Chase? Has anyone heard anything concrete either way, as I still fancy him for this if lining up here.

Pretty sure after his Ascot run they were going to keep him left handed as much as possible. Presume he'll turn up in the Denman a week on Saturday instead but like you, hoping he doesn't win and go for the Gold Cup

Not heard but glad he's not in the re-arranged race.

Perhaps they think it's specifically the track that'd suit?

                  • Maybe I'm missing something but why is Run Wild Fred widely assumed to be going for the NH Chase rather than here? It would seem that Escaria Ten is pretty likely to go there so would he not prefer to split two such (apparently) well handicapped horses?

That's not a very good question.
                      For a winner like you.

In a race where the bookies will be going 6 places some of them, there’s not any need to back him now. In fact, I rarely back more than one antepost in this. Last year was Kildisart in late February but as we know... the bloody conditional ruined that one.

Havent got anything this year as of yet.

                            • This is where a combination of the exchanges and nrnb comes in useful. Get the likely shorteners onside, keep the ones you want, lay the others for a profit, and go back in with 5,6, or even 7 places. The handicaps can be profitable three times over.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

                              • Probably struggle to go up enough for this race specifically.
But the horse that just won at Wincanton. Won off 130, and depends on what his new mark will be.

                                Time to Get up.

would be interesting here or maybe the Kim Muir.
Looks like he stays all day.

                                Not priced up anywhere.
