Of course. thou tbh one of the few races where the Irish isn't the first port of call usually, as course form is pretty much essential and British faired well albeit have the majority of the runner granted.

            Correct
And a race that’s sensible to play more than one or two
            4-6 is worth doing.
why wait for the handicapper when the ratings are known.
can always leave one or two spaces in the team for any springers or Irish horses that get well treated

            • I noted that Jack Kennedy said the horse he initially wanted to ride in the thyestes was farclas but he wasn't declared

this looks the race for him at Cheltenham and il take some of the 25s nrnb on Monday with a freebet

Backed him on Tuesday, like his chances

                • I don’t know why the Irish have such a crap record in this race given how many Irish trainers play and perfect the handicap system and this race is the only 3 mile handicap Chase with professional jockeys at the Festival. This is another race you’d think they would farm. Is it the prize money or them taking pity on the British?? I can’t work out how the British dominate this race???

Therefore I will probably back the Irish runners on the day out of fear they do take control of this race but I’ve backed Canelo, The Conditional and Aye Right so far. Ideal time for a prep run for them both tomorrow, I hope they get around safely and avoid winning

I think for a start if you can get a horse 145< then the Km is the go to as they have the pick of the amateur jockeys for a start which is massive as we know.

                    • In answer to the original question from Danny my position is to get good coverage early, and these are the ones I've backed so far each way either with cash out or nrnb, plus three more I've backed any race that could possibly come here:

                      Happygolucky 20/1nrnb (5pl)
                      The Conditonal 22/1 (4pl)
                      Discorama 25/1 (4pl)
One For The Team nrnb (5pl)
                      Aye Right 25/1 (4pl)
                      Farclas 25/1 nrnb (5pl)
                      Coo Star Sivola 50/1 (4pl)

                      Escaria Ten 14/1 AR
                      Defi Bleu 25/1 AR
                      Coko Beach 25/1 AR

I'll trade out of some of these for a profit as they're all horses I expect to shorten at some point, but overall I think that's a good bunch of the right horses for the race. There are others that people will like that I'm happy to exclude on the basis of their rating or trainer, and a significant doubt they'll come here, but as always I'm open to pursauation when a good case is made. I do want juice in the price though.

Is it straight to the Grand National?

Heard nothing FM but he’ll need a run before April and I would imagine that might be over hurdles....

I'm just watching the Kim Muir again and almost forgot he ran in the race last season!

                            A hurdle run makes sense.

                            • Hopefully today’s result was ideal for my current choices for this race Canelo & Aye Right. Hopefully Aye Right won’t go up too much for finishing a close 2nd.

Has anyone heard anything of the Conditionals target? I remember reading comments about the Gold Cup or Grand National. He’s currently 22/1 with Bet 365 for the Ultima. That price doesn’t have the safety net of NRNB but it does have a cash out option if I’m on the ball. That’s a big price for last years winners. It just appears too big for a horse that would probably be participating in this race??

The Conditional will run in GC if he runs well in Cotswold according to trainer.
