I was going to cashout if he hit no weekend entries.

Hope he runs, then we will know his handicap mark soon.
    He's already on a provisional 131.

Plus Nicholls made no reference to him on his recent stable tour for Chelt despite going into detail on two others in his yard he's looking to aim for here. Think the talk is to step him up in h'caps against older horses so Chelt may be off the table..

I think the older horses thing is a bit misleading, as I said a couple of days ago, it relates to when he was entered in an all age handicap that was abaondoned.
His mark at that time was lower than 131, but he was reassessed due to the form of his last run working out well.
Which is why I backed him weeks ago originally.
Not sure Nicholls not mentioning him at this stage matters too much.
It'll be more important how he runs, if he runs, and what Nicholls says after that.

I wouldn't be backing him without NRNB insurance for this anyway

I wouldn't back anything in this without it.

            • Here's a spanner in the works. Could Quilixios go to the County? He may be in the high 140's in the UK, but he'd get the 4yo allowance in a handicap.

Unlikely I agree, but I thought I'd throw it out as a left field idea that they may have considered to split up Quilixios and Zanahiyr.

Is Riviere D'etel well handicapped for the boodles? #askkeith

I think she is, Ryan. That was a big run when you look back now at Navan and the winner, Thedevilscoachman, has obviously backed that up since. She was running against older horses that day too so she should find it a lot easier back in her own grade. She has a few entries so we'll have to see what the owners and Gordon decide, but I'd like her myself were she to go for a Boodles.

                  • I spoke to the owners of Glorious Zoff yesterday who told me that he’s in great order and this has been the plan since October. I love a plot!

I heard similar from people involved with him prior to his run at sedgefield. Thought they were being a bit ambitious at the time but have proved to be right!

It does stand out very much as a plot doesn't it. His flat run/win really gave it away last time to protect his rating, get him fit and not bottom him out on deep NH ground. All wrapped up nicely now in his stable ready to pounce. I don't normally bet handicaps until the week itself but when Saxon highlighted this one I could not help myself.

The Boodles was a race I didn’t really see myself getting involved in AP to be fair. At the start of the season I picked out races I wanted to leave until very late I.e the week of. The Boodles was one of them.

Here I am with 4 horses backed in the Boodles - 3 of them backed in 2020

It's nice to have 1 on board as I always concentrate on the Tuesday every year as it's the best days racing imo and normally the 'easiest' to predict where horses are being targeted (i.e. Arkle, Champion Hurdle and Mares Hurdle). With the Boodles now on the opening day, it just feels right to have one AP in the race.

                            • I definitely care more about this race now it's on Tuesday than I did when it was on Wednesday.

                              Which is stupid...

I'll probably tricast Elliott/O'Brien/Nicholls runners and hope to hit the jackpot

As someone who couldn’t see the case being made at all for this horse pre-Christmas he’s quickly becoming one of my favourite handicap bets of the week. Can’t believe how his price has held after Dundalk of I’m honest. May even go back to the well for another 0.5points on him.
