I think he's trying to get a big mark for Quilixios from UK so on collaterals Saint Sam goes up higher too, thus messing up SS for Boodles and having to run in Triumph.
hes not a novice so he has ltd options wouldnt be shocking and no reason to think its not being considered

Yeah I agree, my comment was tongue in cheek, but he should be sending Quilixios to the Triumph along with the fav it’s the whole handicap entry thing what’s created confusion.
I’m sure he’ll see sense and run both in the Triumph...

He is the 2nd highest rated Juvenile in Ireland & UK.
        1lb off toprated

Its being considered - but not seriously.

Why would Cheveley Park run a February Grade 1 winner in Handicap a month later?
For around half the prizemoney and much less prestige.

Negating his ability advantage by being handicapped to finish level with every runner.

Its an open contest ? they cant switch him anywhere else and should he by some miracle get his irish rating over here its a real possibilty ..we have had 145 rated runners in the past and this event is heading only one way ..a low band of circa 130 as more of the decent horses are split into fewer stables ..guess the owners will have a say ..but far from convinced this is Elliot flannel

well if that is accurate it wouldnt account for the overperformance of top weights in handicap company . Not sure the Richardsons are bothered about the cash as there is little chance of them recouping their outlay through prize money alone
As for the prestige ..well thats not fixed ..the triumph had a poor reputation for years and I presume that running in this wouldnt stop him developing into a champion hurdler

Also prestige didnt make A Plus Tard rock up in the Marsh did it?

Had A Plus Tard won a Grade 1 before the Novice Handicap Chase?
Was he the second top rated horse in his division?

                I don't think that's a relevant comparable.

                Neither do you. (Hopefully)

APT was seriously well handicapped and a Cheltenham winner for Cheveley Park was the aim, no matter the race. If Quilixios is well handicapped off high 140s, then he would be the best juvenile since Our Conor. So why wouldn't you just win the Triumph.

Absolutely no chance he goes to the Boodles.

I think from the prestige point ..the same owners had a horse which could have presumably ran well in the Novice Championship and choose to run in the less prestigous and valuable option they could win .different horse ..different race ..hey im only playing ..hes unlikely to go ..but its less suprising than Champ over 2m

                    • Anyway, back to a realistic runner in this....Riviere D’Etel.... am I the only one that cant be excited by her at all for a big handicap? Looks very raw still and to be honest while TDC “franked” the form, she was still beat for 2nd getting all the allowances by a PTP horse rated 124 over 2m1....?

                      she’s just shite nah?

                        • quilixios is 7s nrnb with sky....that feels a good price for something low likelihood of happening but a horse that seems a long way clear of others likely to be entered

Yes, he has two weekend entries I think.

I was going to cashout if he hit no weekend entries.

Hope he runs, then we will know his handicap mark soon.

I was planning on doing the exact same thing SW.

Hopefully he runs, and it all goes well.
