  • ....Teahupoo 16-1 for this after its win earlier.

    • Josh D'id running in the same race Aramax was beaten in last year before winning this ran an ok race i think today. 7/1-16/1 before the off, he travelled well enough for me, and when asked the whip was used sparingly if at all.

Wouldn't be surprised if he turns out a sneaky one for this. Looking for prices now.

        • Surprised to see 3 or 4 bookies still have Glorious Zoff at 33-1 for this after yesterday's impressive little prep on the all-weather.

You can still get 25-1 nrnb with PP.

Surprised they're taking any chances on Gordon setting one up for a good mark.

Are we missing something or have they taken their eye off the ball?

Maybe no jumps fans look at dundalk results so nobody has noticed and backed him

I backed him for the Triumph Nwfb89 , pulled up last time and has had a wind op i believe . haven't seen any entries for him ,
but i would be thinking Boodles more likely if he does re appear .

Yes he could find a small prep race and then the Boodles.

But, he's already ran in 3 hurdles races and has a 134 rating so he doesn't need to run to get a mark.

Might be something to do with the fact that there is nothing that suggests that he is a possible winner apart from being trained by Elliott. His form is actually nothing special and winning a flat handicap off of 70 doesn't translate into that high of a jumps mark.

When this race was introduced the early trend was around the highest/near highest rated flat horse and in the early years there were 95/100+ rated horses entered (and performing well).
He’ll have a mark of around 80 now, not a bad mark at all but there will be plenty in there rated higher I suspect...

Just to add to this, bottom weight for the last 3 years has been 129, I'm not sure Glorious Zoff would be certain to get in.

He was rated 131 in the UK when he came over recently.

In this race, at this time , I couldn't put anyone off backing a 33/1 shot or 25/1 NRNB.

                              • Glorious Zoff ran off a mark of 131 when he was a distant 3rd to Monmiral at Doncaster last month.

Even though he was beaten 33 length I can't imagine the handicapper would cut him by more than a couple of pounds. But that's pure guesswork on my part because how the handicapper works is not something I know much about.

Anyway, here are the rating of the bottom weight in the Boodles over the last decade and where they finished in the race.

Also added a few extra bits of info because horses towards the bottom of the handicap have been in the mix on several occasions.

The similarities between Glorious Zoff and Gordon's 2018 winner Veneer of Charm are also pretty uncanny imo.

Veneer of Charm had 13 runs on the flat (including 1 on the AW) and earned a top RPR of 77.

Glorious Zoff has had 7 flat runs (4 turf, 3AW) earning a top RPR of 77.

They each won once on the flat.

Veneer of Charm failed to win in 7 starts at up to 1m and 1/2 a furlong. He then won next time out when he was stepped up to 1m 2f.

Glorious Zoff failed to win in 6 flat starts at up to a mile and then won over 1m 4f on the AW the other day.

Veneer of Charm then joined Gordon and ran three times over hurdles before the Boodles - finishing 1st, 2nd and then 7th and posting RPRs of 121,121, 98.

Glorious Zoff has had 3 hurdle races since joining Gordon - finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd and posting RPRs of 120, 109 and 99.

As you can see from the table, a 129 rating has always made the cut in the Boodles over the last decade.

                                2020: 129 (finished 8th)
                                2019 129 (4th)
2018 126 (7th). Gordon won with Veneer of Charm who was rated 129.Best flat RPR 77.
                                2017 124 (6th)
                                2016 128 (9th)
                                2015 129 (18th) Winner Qualando was rated 131.
                                2014 127 (3rd Winner Hawk High ran off 130.
                                2013 124 (9th) Gordon won with Flaxen Flare who was rated 127. 3rd was rated 130, 4th rated 126 and 5th rated 131.
                                2012 125 (6th) Winner Une Artiste ran off 127.
                                2011 109 (8th) Winner was rated 115
