I think there’s a few entered for Saturday, possibly because they are not guaranteed to get in their Cheltenham races.
Can’t remember where I read it but Fergal called the M Pipe and wasn’t negative about his chances...

                          • Really been going through this race the last hour and am no closer to finding the winner. Have 1 backed so far a while back (Druids Altar) based on the race he won last time being a good pointer for this (thanks Saxon). But must admit I’ve gone ice cold on him the last couple of weeks for no real reason.

Will keep looking at it with different angles and see if I’m any closer in an hour. Never a race I have the winner in. Actually I can’t remember ever backing the winner now I come to think of it. Though that’s probably at least partially due to it being the race I give the least attention to usually and have the least runners in typically, both antepost and after the final decs (usually two or three at the absolute most).

Edit - Just watched the Betfair preview night with Paul Nicholls and Harry Derham. I always make HD excellent value for his word and his positivity about Houx Gris has made me back him with a couple of points in free bets. The bit about him sitting fourth the other day in a gallop on something and Houx Gris jumping in like he was just starting was interesting. Then he says he’s a horse who would love better ground. Then Nicholls pipes up that they’ve aimed at this since 5 minutes after the Finale Hurdle and that he wasn’t anywhere near fully fit that day. Combine that with Derham putting him as his nap for the week and I’ll shamelessly end up (after over 2 hours going through this race) punting the fav. That being said, because it’s a race I don’t do well in and have no strong opinion in, I’ll back him win only rather than wasting a couple of points extra to cover the each way angle. Houx Gris to win will do for now to go with that Druids Altar bet from a while back. Everyone on here seems to be on Glorious Zoff but even though it’s a clear plot (the Dundalk run making that relatively obvious), I’m not sure he’s for me. So for now I’ll leave it as the two already backed.

                            • I have no idea why Houx gris is favourite for this. If you look at it's back form when racing in France it only just beat Homme Public at equal weights. Homme public is now better off at the weights with this horse and yet its 20/1. Plus form of both horses doesn't look that great from horses they've come up against. I've looked at this whole race myself and did not fancy betting on this race until last night when Curious Bride was mentioned. I looked at this horses form and it is working out, recent run clearly did not go to plan on heavy ground and it was 2m 5f. I watched the race when the horse won and I just think this horse has more to offer and if front runs the race again here I think it does have a good chance of actually winning again.

                              • Looks like it was a late night MOM
I did the same on Tuesday night on this race, it quickly eats up your time trying to find an angle. Still havent got closer to narrowing down the winner.
Houx Gris certainly has the boxes ticked for a 'typical' Nicholls horse in this, if he was hoovering around double figures he would be in the book, but he isnt and I'm in no rush to back him at current prices.

                                The search continues...
