      • So do we want to see Capodanno win tomorrow to see him ending up here or the county?

Backed him TWAR and I think a handicap is his only chance but don’t want to be shouting him in tomorrow to find out he needed to finish second before he didn’t blow his mark!

Haha oh no, I've read this before the actual post....

          No, liked it
Will need to revisit on entry stage though

          • ....little bit of a theory here (mentioned on the MP thread):

Hobbs was asked for a ‘dark horse’ on ATR today and he said Pileon has gone under the radar. Touched off in last years M Pipe when ahead of the likes of TBO, he’s been novice chasing this season without success and Hobbs suggested a return to hurdles is on the agenda.

Faugheen_Machine says there’s precedent for a horse coming 2nd in the MP and winning this. Just a consideration.

You may recall from our earliest conversations about him that I liked him here NC, so it's interesting that for all the wrong reasons it's possible he may end back up in this after a failed novice chase campaign. I would actually fancy him even more strongly because of it. This race has seen several horses revert back from fences to run well, and if anyone got him priced up I'd be interested nrnb.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

Yeah, it was Son of Flicka, 2nd to Sir Des Champs by a length or so in the MP. He ran poorly the next season and turned up at Cheltenham a few lb lower in the Coral Cup

66/1 the night before, backed into 16/1 and won cosily.

Not sure we'll see 66/1 on Pileon though.

Why not return to the Pipe?

If anyone really likes the horse for a handicap, is it better to back him to win tomorrow, and get weighted into a handicap, then hold that winning amount ready for Festival handicap entries to be announced in two weeks time.

That’s looking like my plan, after checking the opposition later tonight.

At 6/4 you could turn a 1pt bet tomorrow into 2.5pts to put on him in Festival handicap(s).

If he loses tomorrow he probably won’t come to Cheltenham/be good enough to win there,

Extraordinary that half the horses placed 1-4 in the Coral Cup in the last 5 years ran over fences at some stage that season before the Festival.

They include 6 x 8-year-olds and 2 x 10-year-olds and were all rated in the Coral between 140 and 153. That rating seems to be rising - 146 the lowest of these in the last 4 years.

No 7-year-olds among them and none of them won.........so step forward JANIDIL!!!!!!!

I'll make it my mission in life to get him priced up NRNB tomorrow.

Hope you get better than the 14s available any race. He would have the class to win this.
