    • Hope Ardlethen is OK. Could be a terrible day for the Skeltons.

      Its a brutal game.

Warwick weekend winners Imperial Alcazar and Adrimel are under the spotlight in this week's 'Weights & Measures' as Ben Linfoot chats to Fergal O'Brien and Tom Lacey.

Jennings very keen on Imperial Alcazar in today’s Upppng the Ante - hence the sea of blue!

              • The owner of Imperial Alcazar has just confirmed to me that the Pertemps is the main focus.

“Pertemps is at the front of the queue, but outside the front 2 in the betting the Stayers is pretty open so we’re not ruling anything out at the moment.”

Would the 33/1 NRNB stayers tempt you?
Or the 12/1 NRNB (5 places) Pertemps?

I like him a lot, he travelled really well at Haydock in that desperate ground race where Pipe’s multi winner (Main Fact) came from out of the mud’n’snot to win it.

IA got to the lead but blew up two out, on his first run for ten months.

On Saturday he was anchored out the back travelling ominously well, and really he won as he liked.

On his only Cheltenham hurdles run he was beaten a nose in a Listed Ballymore trial by Protektorat a year ago.

He has to go for the Pertemps off 147, doesn’t he?

FOB says he only got the Stayers entry in case the Irish didn’t travel.

                    Pertemps bet for me.

But I don’t think it’s a waste to have a few quid NRNB on the Stayers.

If he goes there it would show a lot of confidence in the horse, to skip the Pertemps off 147.

I think it’s going the Pertemps - with what Saxon’s posted plus this from Fergal:

“I think we’ll target the Pertemps Final now.”

O’Brien said: “The Stayers’ Hurdle entry was made just in case the Irish horses couldn’t come over and that would deplete that race, it would give us an option, but realistically of course we’re looking at the Pertemps.

                        Saxon,
                        Big negative winning a qualifier.

                        • Yeah fair enough... I wouldn't think he'd be shorter than 33/1 even without the Irish in the Stayers.

Is he well handicapped I wonder?

I like him and am a bit annoyed with him because I had him as my reserve in the tipping comp I think. Not a bet for me at the prices.

I think something better handicapped would 'do him'...

Yes, I love a stat, but not as much as I love a win.

Its telling that FOB has given the handicapper a nudge to hit the Irish horses hard.

Ive got The Bosses Oscar, who will probably be a similar rating to Imperial Alcazar, and I’m happy with those.

TBO can be my stat horse, and Imperial Alcazar my “visuals” one.

Can you really see Fergal winning this race............or any race at the festival....

                                .
Does the problem not start with the Irish handicapper, surely the marks the UK ‘capper comes up with use their Irish marks as a base, and we all know it doesn’t matter what he does the Irish will still claim the majority of handicaps.
The cynic in me thinks there may be some collusion between Irish ‘capper and Irish trainers...
