I did today exactly what I did with The Storyteller last year backed E/W 5 places and laid off the win part on the exchange, will have to raise the stakes doing this next year

I apply that rule to all qualifiers FF, not just Pertemps.
The concept of a ‘final’ is sensible but in recent years particularly trainers have literally abused the rules of racing but get away with it, baffles me how blatant non triers aren’t penalised...

Was slightly riskier this year as only 5 places not 6 which is where The Storyteller finished last year to qualify with the sneakiest of Davy Russel rides, the jockey wasn’t quite so cute this year

I think the clever plot job days are over. TAX @ 8LB now . The IRE win rpr OR +2LB has been rumbled.. by the BHB. Im waiting for the week and decs. Gd 3 horses in after never placed to challenge over wrong trip types running on or faded when ridden prominently.

I meant the place conditions on the race not the qualifying criteria which was still 6 as I understand it. Just meant this year TBO could have finished 6th, qualified but I would have lost my bet. I’m pretty sure The Storyteller race last year paid 6 places and he finished 6th.

What happened to commander of fleet? Couldn’t watch the race, but looks like it came 8th. Did it give itself too much to do or just bad run in general?

Debatable whether he is the same horse of old, but he probably did well to finish 10th and I think he's well worth another chance.
I fully expect to see him in another qualifier, as i'm not sure what other options he has.
I also think they're trying to get his mark down a tad at the same time.

Looking at the 9 Irish horses that were entered in the UK on my updated spreadsheet, they were put up (UK tax) 45lbs, which is dead on a 5lb hike in the ratings.

There are going to be some big differences to that at the extremes, but for my own assessment I am thinking of a 5lb average rise when considering any Irish horses coming over for a handicap.
