    • Keith Donoghue Q&A

Steve Ryder (@SteveRyder13) asked: "I notice Commander Of Fleet is entered in a Pertemps Qualifier on Sunday, is the plan to go back over hurdles with him given his chasing debut last month?"

Steve, I think he is going back over hurdles alright. It's disappointing that as of yet he doesn't look the same horse as he was before the injury, but Gordon is great at getting a horse back in form and he could be very interesting for races like this. Only time will tell though!

Yep, it would have been very surprising if they had. Purely a fact finding mission with future targets in mind.

Yep. Don't think anyone expected them to run.

              • Just gone back in on Mohaayed at 27s (Hills Boost) after seeing that, looked a bit obvious what they were doing to me but I hope he doesnt get stung on his mark.

Thought the same re Agrapart. His Jockey was very clever.

Can see some big tipster put him up soon and the price crumble

...still 22-1 (with boost) in Hills a/r market.

                      • Just rewatched the Mohayeed race. Is it not too obvious that he wins the Pertempts? We all know the Skeltons love a handicap plot but if we can all see it then surely the handicapper can see it. For me it’s too obvious to go and win.

I’ll be proven wrong come March I bet but I just think it’s too coincidental & therefore I’m looking elsewhere. (Still @ honest Vic at the moment).

                        • With Mohaayed, there may be a difference in looking cheeky over 3M in English handicaps, then having half-a-dozen decent Irish contenders introduced to him in the Pertemps Final

...Willie Mullins, Gordon Elliott and JoB were amongst a number of Irish trainers with multiple runners behind Mohaayed when it won the County Hurdle two years ago.

As you can see from my Avatar, I have a soft spot for him. He and Bridget Andrews did me a big favour that day.

I think it's almost certain the plan will be the Pertemps now that he is qualified. They also mentioned it in the stable tour.

A real pleasure to have around the yard, he's a County Hurdle winner who has won some very good two-mile contests for us but ran well in a 2m4f handicap on soft ground at Aintree on his reappearance, staying on well, then backed that up with a good run in second over just beyond three miles at the same track. He retains his enthusiasm and he looks the perfect horse for the Pertemps Final, which the owners sponsor. He'll go to Cheltenham on December 11 for a 3m handicap hurdle and then we'll plot a course for the festival.

                              • Re Mohayyed, the owners sponsoring the Pertempts race makes it even more interesting.
