  • My thinking too chaps.

Feel a lot more confident about TBO carrying top weight.

With the exception of Champagne Platinum and DDP (who has unfinished business with the UK Capper) there doesn't look to be too many other obvious plot jobs.

Can't wait to get stuck into this tricast!

    • A graded horse carrying top weight against a bunch of handicappers must have a great chance. Looking forward to see him tanking down the hill on the bridle.

        ....well, Sky have a RaB;

TBO, CP & Imperial Alcazar to finish 1st 3 in any order 80-1.

Nearly but not quite what you wished for.

          • I'm fairly sure they don't qualify by default. Presumably they'll try and rearrange it for another card.

            • I'm not of the same opinion that this will be a poor renewal. Third Wind could still be improving, has just won a G2 and could still turn up and justify top weight. Honest Vic seems to run well at Cheltenham and is another who I think could be improving. Imperial Alcazar is another who could easily be graded class. Champagne Platinum is a plot job and could have loads in hand. Lynwood Gold is well handicapped and could be graded class imo. I also like Mrs Milner who ran well at Cheltenham when just touched off by On The Blind Side.

I could only back Third Wind now with a top claimer taking the seven off he was put up. He can't win this off 153. He's a bet for when the decs come out.

Haha. No I meant in any given competitive handicap like this, where every pound counts, if I had backed a horse and was offered JK or Brouder claiming 7lb, I would take the latter every time! Obviously JK is the better jockey right now, but really think he is going to the top and that he is excellent value for that claim.

Not sure i'd want Brouder over JK in every given event where pounds matter. JK is a fair whack better than Brouder which for me evens out the 7lb balance somewhat. JK is up there with the best jockeys in Ire/UK, Brouder wouldn't be anywhere near that yet.

He is decent, they all are. Gavin Brouder in Ireland actually has quite a poor strike rate. 4% over hurdles. 0 from 3 at Cheltenham as well.

Kevin Brouder's numbers are actually a fair bit better.

I'd love Gainford to get a ride or two, he probably will. Been following him from ptp times and starting out mainly at Downpatrick, quality jockey in the making. I wouldn't be shocked if he gets the ride.

I think Gavin has gained a lot of race experience on horses that are borderline no hopers, something that will probably help his career ironically as a good claimed for the big days can be very important, he’s not riding out his claim too quickly which will make him value for it in events like this. He only had his first ride for Gordon in March last year winning a decent pot on Gun Digger and has since won the Munster national on aforementioned, & steered Cracking smart to 4th in the coral cup. IMO he’s definitely the best of the 3 Brouders and again IMO could be spoke about along with the likes of Jack Kennedy etc in a few years if given the opportunity. I’d be a big fan of his to be fair.

                              Sounds like it lol.

I like them, no doubt about that. I wouldn't worry if they ride something in a handicap. I was more surprised he'd be picked over JK. Sort of understand it now.

Majority of Irish riders are very very capable.

I wouldn’t have him over JK personally. I don’t think. Some races require much more tactical prowess from a jockey than others but I suppose you never know how it will unfold before the event. I’d deffo be happy to take him & his 7 over a lot of the pros though.
