Cheers. That's a no then. I'll put a line through him.

    • I don't think CP will go up in rating for his run yesterday. Given the same RPR as his OR yesterday.

When comparing the 3 mile races at Haydock yesterday, the first circuit of the Rendlesham and the Pertemps qualifier were pretty similar in time but Third Wind ran the last circuit around 23 lengths quicker than CP, with CP carrying 10 pounds more.

Third Wind was given an RPR of 151 and so the 139 RPR for CP makes sense and he looked to be holding back so he definitely has some pounds in hand at this trip if left on 139. OTBS has been pretty consistent this year and been rated 153, 152 and 151 at 3m this season. He's beaten CP by around 20 lengths carrying 6 pound less, giving a rating for CP of around 137-139.

The Pertemps doesn't seem to be particularly strong this year compared to last year and so those who got on CP at decent prices should be pretty happy with the performance.

      • ...tipped up recently by Mark Howard for this, no price reaction to Southfield Harvest after just finishing third.

Skybet currently have him at 25/1 NRNB for the Pertemps Final and Hills have him 33/1 (35/1 with boost) but no cash out nor NRNB. I’ve backed him as a back up. He’s now my 8th horse in this race and I’ve a dreadful record in it
Paddy Power and Betfair have him priced up at 33/1 nrnb TKP. I've just backed him at 35/1 with a boost with BF.

          • Just watched Southfield Harvest replay from today and the horse was stopped at the frist when Dhowin fell, very lucky to stay up imo.. So a third place after watching that incident early on was a more than decent run prior to the Pertemps imo. Rated 135 a small rise for today's third will leave him at the bottom of the weights for the race and hopefully just sneak in. Nicholls stated the race has long been the plan in the R.P.

            • I'd be concerned that they went hard at it for a long way there which seems wholly unnecessary if he's being targeted at the racr.

Yeah I blew my beans too quickly in this bet, I’ve got NRNB protection with Sky but an extra 10 points and NRNB with PP would have been nicer.

                • Is there any chance lock’s corner comes here, he finished second in a qualifier at Cheltenham behind honest vic, he’s trained by Jonjo who can get winners at the festival and can target a race, not many horses go for a big handicap in Ireland though it was a chase, still young but hasnt run since December but still a decent price

I was pondering this one over the weekend. His last run in Dec, he ploughed through the second last fence when looking to make his move and was pulled up shortly after. Their plan was to get him qualified for the NHC at the time. Since then, I have seen no entries for him, which maybe leads me to believe he may have picked up an injury for that mistake.

Right now, he is still not qualified for the NHC and has not be entered for any of the Novice chases. One of the h'cap chases may be in scope but I would worry about going into the festival on the back of his last run.

So the Pertemps may be an option to take up. This is all pending on his well being of course. So NRNB would be advised if you are looking to have a bet on him.

Unsure myself. I’ve just cashed out my coral cup bet on him after not being declared here; would be a pretty big negative they’re not running him this week for me, as you’d think theyd want to keep their options open anyway, plus his last run was pretty shite really so I’d have been hoping to see him out on a racecourse again before the festival and at least look comfortable being there if he was going to carry my money. Plus entries close for the handicaps today, and I suspect his price will move little if at all if he is entered and I can always back him again, whereas I’d stand to lose my whole stake if he wasn’t entered.

Cashed all my bets on him for pertemps/coral. Wanted to see him out this week really, his last run was absolutely awful, either a plot or just not the same horse IMO.

KD said they were really disappointed with him last time. Perhaps there's something amiss with him ?

Luckily I was quick enough, 365 really on the ball this year.
