It was a real balancing act but considering the way the race panned out in the home straight it was as good a ride as he could have given I reckon.
    4lb max I'd say.
    Agreed Q

there seems to be an advantage in trying to get qualified earlier for this

Also an advantage to ride a horse to come from behind, easier to judge getting qualified

Does anyone try to lay these horses for win purposes that are obviously trying to qualify but not win ?

    • 365 were 25s pre race
      Re-installed him at 20/1
That got backed so they clipped to 16/1

Right now, they have him 14/1

He's going off shorter than that still isn't he?!

I'll be amazed if he's not single figures given his SP in the Kim Muir, the ride, the connections....

Still a backable price with some juice in it!

My doubt beforehand was that we hasn't proved he'd stay, however support for him deemed that was not the case, and now I don't have a doubt... solid option.

Ah, now he's 9/1 - that makes more sense.

If they give him 4lbs they are going to crucify that winner having completed a 5timer now over hurdles.

Dunno but I'd love to know what happened to the horse between sep 15th and 18th Nov

horse must've grown an extra leg because it's gone from getting beat 21 lengths off 87 to now winning by 9 lengths off 120 and will surely get 132 minimum

an improvement of 45+ lbs in 3 months

they clearly knew too because it went off 28/1 when beaten 20 lengths then rocks up next time and goes off 7/4

Tommy Dowsons reply to some asking the same question yesterday......

“I’d tell you he was a raw, inexperienced novice, that needed to learn to settle. How the yards done a great job in teaching him to settle and that he’s a different horse on soft ground”.

Is he likely now to sneak in at the bottom of the weights in the final after yesterday's romp ?

Only rated 120 yday and to guarantee a run your usually looking at 136(last year 133 was lowest in recent renewals) so he needs more than a stone rise Tuesday.

                              • Spirit of the Games has a pertemps qualifier entry this week at Chepstow on Thursday. It may be a warm up race for the Plate or Dan Skelton thinks a handicap hurdle is his best chance of winning at Cheltenham. Skybet currently have him at 25/1 NRNB for the Pertemps Final and Hills have him 33/1 (35/1 with boost) but no cash out nor NRNB. I’ve backed him as a back up. He’s now my 8th horse in this race and I’ve a dreadful record in it
