Champagne Platinum is definitely well handicapped, but like many others I worry about him staying. He ran a blinder last time considering how hard he pulled. If he pulls like that again he’s got no chance of getting the 3m at Cheltenham. The cheek pieces are on again Sunday. They didn’t work last time but it was his first run of the season and back to hurdles so he was entitled to be fresh. He might sneak into the Coral Cup but a couple of pound rise would secure it.

Have added Torygraph now though, the 25s NRNB was tempting enough. He has a nice rating that hopefully might convince Gordon to get him qualified and he already has Farouk for the Potato.

Looks a very competitive qualifier today with some interesting horses in it.
Does he know - a novice, if he should go close then he would be in the picture for the bartlett you'd think. And unlikely for this race, although you never know with Kim.
More than likely wants to get a run in before cheltenham after running out the last time.
Champagne is just a horse that they seem desperate to get a big handicap run out of him.
Tommy Rapper, although 10 years old has not had many runs (not priced up for the pertemps and he's interesting), as he has some decent back form and the trainer seems savvy enough with the handicaps.
Palmers Hill - very similar profile to Champagne and very unexposed really at age 8. Typical JP type.
Southfield Harvest - favourite today and his form is so-so, and not sure how well Nicholls does with these types, over hurdles.
There are one or two others that are of interest to some I'm sure, but the ones above are the ones that caught my eye.
Not backed any of them for the pertemps mind you.
Although had Tommy Rapper been priced up at 40-1 or above then I might have.
He's not priced at all.

Excellent comeback win last season, and Cheltenham Conditionals Hurdle win before that, catch the eye.
Although the 33-1 might be worth the risk except for the fact B365 are pushing them, so could be losses incurred if he don't qualify.
Daft as it sounds he'd probably get cut if winning and not get cut much at all for qualifying (maybe into 16's or 12's worst).
But if he won, I'd fancy him less.
This race is a perversion.

...Palmers Hill 27-1 (with boost) in Hills a/r market.
In his stable tour, O’Neill describes him as ‘fragile’.

I think the Pertemps will be one of the races at this years festival that doesn’t have many Irish runners this year in due to the lockdown/Brexit issues so I’m chancing my luck on backing some British runners. I’ve backed Southfield Harvest & Champagne Platinum NRNB in the hope they qualify today. This years Pertemps looks a weak race on paper at the moment so doesn’t look a hard race to win either.

Six qualified at Leopardstown at Christmas.
Might be one that travelled to qualify in UK (not Tower Bridge RIP).
Then there's Punchestown in 10 days.
How many of those will actually travel?
Any UK tax could shrink the numbers further.
After Exeter today there are 3 qualifiers left, entries for all those will be known by this Friday."Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".

Would we want any British horse that hasn't already qualified in this now?
2 more races at Haydock and Chepstow, both renowned for getting really heavy and testing. With 3.5 and 3 weeks respectively before the race at Cheltenham surely that's not enough time to be fully recovered. I don't even think I could confidently back any horse at Cheltenham that has raced at Exeter today in any race with the conditions being so bad and horses are on their last legs at the finish line
