I think I'm going to back him regardless at 25/1 for the Pertemps.
I went down to the Willie's shop yesterday and backed him at 25s for the Pertemps, before this entry.
I'm pleased I did, in case he runs and performs well this week.
Its not a qualifier, none scheduled in Ireland yet.
Usually the December Leopardstown one at Christmas for Gordon.

Yeah, I'm following suit. Had 2 points ew on at 25/1.
It's clearly speculative but it does look the race that would suit him the most in my opinion.
My thoughts and analysis on Gordon in the handicaps is well documented so I'm using that to offset how mental it sounds backing a horse for a handicap in October that he's not qualified for yet haha.
I'm going to go against the grain here, and not back The Bosses Oscar.
I don't think he'll be a 3m horse at a level required to win a Pertemps. Nothing suggests he could be yet, and on the little evidence we do have, his PTP's were disappointing (over 3m) and his breeding on his dams side does not suggest 3m either.
I would much rather suggest him for the Coral Cup, and interesting that he should start off over 2m 6 1/2f as that's the exact trip Black Tears ran over on her 2nd start of the season (the first run was over 2m 6f so only 1/2f shorter), before she went on to Coral Cup success. That said, Sire Du Berlais started off out over 2m 4f and Delta Work over 2m, for the same trainer, before winning their first Pertemps Hurdle titles, so this could be an irrelevance that I have just picked up on
Coral Cup and even the Martin Pipe can't be ruled out ...
Considering its a handicap he been/being aimed at, I don't expect him to show he's a 3m horse until that day in March either, so you'll be right for a long time yet haha.
No real benefit to him bolting up over 3m at any point prior to then.
This house has always been the dark one, plenty thought he was the one for the Pipe (of course we all knew who it really was).
For me, the difference between the Coral Cup and Pertemps aren't exactly massive either. I think most horses could run well in either. I'd fancy him in any of the handicaps probably, including the Pipe.

Don't know how many horses try going for the Martin Pipe after a failed attempt, but it is an option for sure. I'd just be keener on the Coral Cup, with a proper jockey on board as opposed to a conditional.
I'm not worried about being right in between the festival, but obviously not backing him for this race at the festival I'd hope to be right on the day (as we all want to be I guess).
His OR currently is at a nice point for the Pertemps (should he go that route) so I'd suspect they wouldn't want to damage that. Every possibility he doesn't win a race prior to the festival and his price may be bigger at some point than the 25's also. He's not one that excites me at the moment, and his any race price is disgusting, so couldn't even go down that route even if I wanted to.
I'll wait for the other handicap markets to open up.

Got him Any Race at 15/1 too.
Thinking Coral Cup or Pertemps (rather than the Pipe).
